Hi chaps,

I have seen something rather odd this morning! I started the car ('85 civic DL) while the front was on axle stands, and much to my surprise the wheels started turning.

I know that this transmission has more than one clutch, but that's as far as my knowledge goes. I would really like to understand what is happening, and what it will mean long term.

I'm Jamie, from Glasgow (Scotland).

This is my '85 Civic 1.3 auto. I bought it for £495 on a whim, I was originally looking for a daily driver as my Civic EP3 is getting a bit too hardcore for everyday use. As soon as I saw this little gem pop up on autotrader I put out a plea for help on the Type-R forum that I'm a part of, because it was 500 miles away in England! A friend went and viewed the car for me and told me that if I didn't buy it, then he was taking it home himself.

So, a few days later I hopped on a flight to London with a buddy, bought the car, and very nervously started the trip home. After 17 hours of unbelievable traffic, diversions, getting lost, monsoon rain and endless midnight motorway we got the car home. It performed flawlessly, I'm absolutely amazed at the mechanical condition of the car. The only issues are some rust on the rear arches and the gas struts on the boot have died, the paint needs some love too.

I'm really looking forward to working on this car and making it my own. The current plans are mostly refurbishment; Treat all rust, replace any worn mechanicals, retrim interior and repaint. Though some suspension parts and wheels may make a appearance after it's in a condition that I'm happy with. All comments and suggestions are very welcome!

I'm Jamie, new member/owner from Glasgow. I've recently bought myself an absolute gem of an '85 civic, it's a cracking little car! I've spent some time trawling through this forum over the last couple of weeks, got some great info already. So thanks for running a great forum, I'm looking forward to being a part of it.

 

I will post up a build thread soon, but I can't figure out how to post photos, probably just me being dumb. How do you guys do it? A direct link from my photobucket won't paste into the text box, and the IMG button just freezes and I have to refresh the page to get rid of the link box  .
