Well, as someone who had HAD to use their Emergency Brake in an EMERGENCY, I worry about drink holders like that prelude one and even just wedging the cups between the seat and the e-brake handle.
When you are doing 90 and some slowpoke jumps into your lane, and your brake line lets go and your brake hits the floor (as happened to me), you do not want to be weaving your hand around a cupholder!

I was afraid of that, but the husco arm rest does really prevent you from yanking the ebrake, its high, and back far enough as not to get in the way.

Good point, that would be some scary shit.
Makes me want to go out and replace my entire brake system for safety's sake.
At any rate, a real cupholder would be better than wedging your cup, but wedging you cup is always better than nothing.
Cheers,
Mark

Omg! That is the funniest thing I've ever seen! I laughed my farkin' ass off for like five minutes! I just can't believe there is a website dedicated to cupholders...

Um yeah, cupholders... what can you say?
Anyway if you want a cheap OEM-looking junk-yard solution I noticed a friend's Subaru (a early '90s Legacy wagon) has a flat twin cupholder that pulls out of the dash and works well.
I haven't done it myself but the preliminary measurements looked promising to mount one into a gen 1 under the ashtray/lighter console area.

Late 80's Toyota's have them as well. I paid $10 for two from a yard. If I can find them I'll take some pics.

Anyone have any ideas on installing a solid drink holder for our cars?
Any ideas or design ideas? I hate holding a drink in my lap and spilling on my crotch when I'm trying to shift gears!
Pictures of your setup?
Seems stupid, I know, but I'm jealous of newer cars with drink holders (like my Jeep- great!)

I've been thinking about doing something with the dash storage thing. You could remove the lid and make something that fits in there and holds two drinks. I think it would be perfect. It's on my to-do list. I think it could be easily reproduced and would sell like hotcakes on ebay...
