Just as the topic says, how can I test my seat belts? I grabbed mine the other day and started yankin it hard and fast (lol) and had a heck of a time getting it to 'catch'. I think I did once. When it wouldn't I could kinda feel it wanting to catch.. hard to explain, could hear clicking too. Don't want to start driving this thing on a regular basis if the belts are bad.
If they are bad, will they still be replaced under some kind of safety warranty?

I experienced similar problems with a pair of used seat belts that I bought when converting my CRX back for street usage, the locking mechanisms tend to fail over time for whatever reason (wear, contamination, age, etc.). Luckily I read through the Honda Warranty Policy and found that it clearly states there is a Lifetime Warranty on all their seat belts. I went to my dealer with this info and they rudely declined my request stating the car was too old and the belts were no longer available. I then called Honda's corporate center and spoke to the warranty department, told them my story and they said the belts were still available and the dealer had to the replace them for free. After they heard about my struggle with the dealer, Honda sent out a letter to the dealer stating that they had to replace my belts and a few weeks later I had brand new NOS seat belts installed for free. It took a bit of time and legwork, but was definitely worth it as safety of yourself and occupants isn't something to mess around with. Hope this helps and good luck, Jon

I gotta try that. The dealer I went to also said my car was too old to have the belts warrantied. I told them there was a recall and they have lifetime warranty....they basically sent me on my way.
Do you have that honda warranty number that I can call?

Sorry flashmatrix I don't have the number, but I just called the warranty center listed on the Honda website and after a hour or so of being transferred around/talking to representatives I wound up talking to the right person. You just have to be persistent and go through the process which may include registering your car as well as yourself over the phone with Honda's warranty system (it may have already been registered by a previous owner fyi). Good Luck, Jon

This is very cool information seeing as just the other day my drivers side seatbelt locked up in the "out" position and will no longer retract. And the passenger side belt has been locking up at the buckle ever since I bought the car... I am really gonna try this.

Keep us all informed.
I had my clickers replaced at the dealer in 1996.
I think you only get one set, the second set is not warranteed.
Also since then I have heard they canceled their lifetime warranty policy.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

That happened to the driver's seat belt of my 87 Integra. I just made a big loop in the belt and tied a knot in it so it would be snug when I was driving. I drove it for a few years like that (I didn't gain any weight)... until a couple of high school kids weren't paying attention and turned across my lane of the highway. I hit the brakes but I was still going about 40-45 when I t-boned their late 80's accord.
Thanks to that loop I tied in the seat belt, I walked away without a scratch (I was sore the next day though). Seat belts definitely save lives... even crude belts....
Here is what was left of my Integra

OUCH!!
Okay, so update. The "lifetime warranty" covers ONLY the buckles on the floor. NOT the retractors or the belts themselves. My local dealer will be happy to replace both of mine at NO charge so yaaay!! (they are about 80 bucks a piece to buy them yourself) I did contact Honda America and got the same answer. And because my car is showing that the warranty was never claimed when the recal was released, the WILL cover it for sure. But once again. The buckle ONLY.
The problem with my belts turned out to be the coil spring in the retractor has snapped. Oh well, gotta check the local bone yards!
