Hello crx owners.....I have a 85 CRX Si, which came with a EW3 MPFI engine OBD-0- and I'm changing the engine for D15B VTEC OBD2a. I have all the engine harness OBD2a with the ecu. and I have the whole interior harness OBD-0

I want to match the engine harness OBD2a with interior harness OBD-0 .... and so have completely operating the cluster, and the other things to the engine to run properly

someone who knows how to do it...thanks

Anything pre-1988 is considered pre-OBD by most I know. OBD0 is 88-91 civic, 88-89 integra, some DA's, I think it has to do with the government requiring emission sensors on vehicles for cleaner cars. You definitely could not plug in an 88-91 civic ecu and have it work, but I do believe the plugs are the same. If your wanting to stay OBD2A (maybe your in Cali?) talk to Screech, he's done it.

I drew on paint to see if you understand what I need to do
I need to match both harness, but I need to know that wires will use and which are not

ok you are missing the interior harness that matches your engine harness. it is connected strait to the ecu ti minimize wiring on your end the ecu will plug directly to the engine harness then you wire that harness to your stock crx harness for guages and starter signal and power and ground

That is the easiest way to do it. You are on the right track but you are making it tough on yout self without that piece of the harness that goes threw the fire wall with theecu plugs on it

Also i would if i were you get an obd1 engine and chassi harness and do what your trying to do. ditch the obd2 harness unless you want the car obd2 wich is a lot more work

I drew a picture to help you out my skills suck dont laugh

Thanks Bro....i appreciate your help

another questiones is:

and if I put a new fuse box, and create a new union, which match both harness and detach the cables that I will use and leave the leftover covered

it would be easier?

Its really up to you as long as the wires are hooked up correctly it will run perfect

The only reason i suggest to get the extra piece of the harness your missing from the junkyard is the distributor and 90 percent of the engine sensors wire directly from ecu plugs to the connectors you have at the end of your engibe harness

It saves you alot of time and frustration then the driverside shock tower plug needs to be wired directly to the ecu for injectors and iacv.

Then

All that will be needed to have the engine run is

1. 12v switched +
2. Ground
3. Starter signal
4. Fuel pump - trigger wire to negative post on fp relay

Then you will want to pull the tachometer and temperature wires and splice thoes into the cluster

And it will run like a stock integra using the body harness for lights wipers blinkers and such

And your new standalone harness for the motor

Then at this time you can remove any extra wires including the old ecu plugs

Now if you want to splice the new harness to the old one then you will have to get a jumper from obd0 to obd1 after you convert your old harness to 88-91 obd0 spec

But more work and less reliable in my opinion

As long as you are doing it the way you think is easiest is all that matters. But you really neef the fsm for the diagrams from both cars

Take your time you wont be disappointed

Goodluck

For me, I used the main chassis, dash, and engine harnesses, as well as several additional sensors so it is code free, from my engine donor (99 Honda CR-V) when converting to OBD-2. I spliced the new main chassis harness into the rear harness next to the driver's seat. I added fuel tank sensors in the back. I removed the wiring for power windows and rear doors. While my Civic has the CR-V engine some controls from the 87 Integra were electrically a match to the CR-V and physically fit my Civic so they were used. on the dash harness from the CR-V I removed the power vent controls, though on CRX those may be of use. I used the CR-V under hood and under Dash harness. I also added cruise control and keyless entry. My car electrically is more or less an 99-00 CR-V, just with 86 Civic/87 Integra controls for the user interfaces and old lights spliced in.

My thread if you want to review is here: http://www.redpepper...showtopic=19234

Also, get the FSM and ETM for the source and target cars. makes tracing wires much easier.

ok guys, I had my car a little forgotten, but I'm still stuck in the connection ....

I have connected the main relay exactly as I show in the photo.

I would like someone expert told me, if I'm right or wrong
