Yes, but your question is a bit too small. Any more details on what its doing? Is it "stiff" all the time? Some of the time? Make any funny noises? Etc...

Yes it could be the cable- if some of the cable wires break, it will begin to unravel inside the cable sheath. When this happens, the cable will not slide back and forth very smoothly.

Thanks guys!

Most of the time its stiff..

I notice a faint creaking noise (kind of hard to explain, it sounds like a creak or squeak that seems to be coming from the clutch pedal, I gues sounds more like a squeak..

When the clutch pedal is being pushed in (during the inward motion) is when the noise is heard. The noise isn't there while the clutch is held to the floor nor when the pedal is released..

Could my cable be worn out or too tight or is it something more serious?

More than likely it's the spring on the clutch pedal.

Go up under the dash, locate the spring, and see if you can get some grease on the spring.

That should take care of your problem, and save you a few Dollars in the process.

While you're under there examine the bracket the pedal is attached to for cracking. They are known to fail.
If it's not the spring, it could be that the cable is binding making the pedal stiff, and the metal bracket is fatiguing causing the creak.

My pedal got really stiff right before the cable bracket failed about a month. Be sure you check out that bracket, you really have to look around to make sure its not tearing/cracking....

Hint for however you get to do it - much easier to access for removal if you drop the steering column down out of the way.

Lay under dash. Clutch cable is attached to top of clutcg. Other end is attached to lever on front of transmission. There is a grommet holding it in place on the firewall. If you release both ends of the cable and then turn the grommet 180 degrees the cable will come out. Total replacement time shouldn't be more than an hour start to finish for someone who has never done it before.

Just saw anjin's hint. I have never had to do that before.

so the clutch cable has been replaced..the squeaking sound is gone but its still very stiff..does it have to do something inside the transmission?

it could be the pedal assembly. i know on both of my dsm's i had the same issue and i rebuilt them and it fixed it. not 100% sure what it looks like on these cars but typically its all on one unit. usually its just brass races that wear out over time causing binding in the unit. im not sure how cable driven cluches work but if it has a ball and fulcrum then that could also be getting worn out. theres really not too many things it could be and as long as you are not hearing any kind of loud sreaching from around the transmission when you let the clutch out then you should be fine. if you do then your throw out bearing is likely going out.
