If you decide to change thermostats it's a good idea to get a Honda one, not
aftermarket from a parts store.

Where is it located? 87 Civic Manual - Thermostat page 10-6

LOOK IN THE MANUAL!!!!!!

the heat gauge plugs into the side of the head. right below the distributer. not on the distributer but under it one wire. on the passenger side of the engine. is the needle stuck on hot. or does it just not go up. your questions are hard to answer be more specific. always get honda parts if you can.
