Friday at Siloam, same guy put a kid on his roof. Dude is slow; so is his car. Saturday night at Tri-State, I started the feature in position 4, behind Elmer. We take off and I pass him on the inside, like he's sitting still. As soon as his hood disappears from sight, he plowed my RR fender and put me in the wall at roughly 55. Asshole over did it and crossed track taking out 2 others... So pissed. Guy has never won a race but has literally destroyed 6 or 8 good race cars with his shitbox Avalon.... Did I say I was pissed?

In the heat before destroying the car, the track was already like glass and i slid over the berm and off track into the mud. Only five cars on the track so I was dead last when I got straightened out. After that I was letting off really early and trying to feather the throttle through the corners. You can see the slip angle on the front end. I love this track, just wish it was a little stickier.
Here is a few laps of the heat after catching all but one turbo eclipse. Quality is aweful, my buddy is a mechanic, not a filmographer. If thats a word.

Last night I finally unloaded it and put it in the shop and got pissed off all over again. Another racer heard talk in their group about two racers planning on "taking someone out." My in-car video showes the obvious PIT manouver by the hooplehead and then a very late hit to the RR wheel by another MX3 that iv'e never seen before. Wheel is probably toast but I got plenty of those. I gotta salvage it so I can continue to blow his doors off.

This is exactly why I don't do wheel-to-wheel racing. Not because of normal things that happen when rubbing, but because of idiots who damage other people's cars either on purpose or due to stupidity.

I'm with ya on normal rubbing. Had plenty of that, but this was ridiculous. Makes me wish I hadn't invested any time in the car. Without the frame rail bracing and tube bumper, it wouldn't have survived.
She's got some more trophies in her.

Well, I got the new car on the track. Did not miss a week. Did not lose any positions in the points, I continue to be fourth, six points out of third. I started 5'th, the gentleman who totaled my last car started right behind me. I just couldn't get the car in gear on the start, he ran into the back of me and wouldn't you know it, someone plowed into him and spun him and he finished last, a lap down. That's the end of his championship hopes. He was 8 points behind in second, now 16 points behind in third. I finished 8/9, I think but for the bad start I could have finished 5'th. There were bugs to work out. Computer went into limp mode heading out for first practice. Second practice VTEC was not engaging and I was losing top end. Car handles really well, but is not geared right. I have discovered the car was a DX civic that the previous owner put a vtec head on. It needs the EX or Si transmission for the better third gear and final drive. Two weeks of the season left. I will finish top five in points even if I show up and finish last every week. Anything better than that is icing on the cake. I am searching for a transmission to put in it, am only turning about 6200 rpm at the end of the straights which is just getting in the power band. Now for a few pictures.
This is what I started with. It had been an enduro car. Was stripped, doors welded but that was it. No cage. No fuel cell. No firewall, and that windshield was made of plexiglass, sketchy as fuck.
Convertible civic.
Firewall complete.
Fuel cell in the process of installation.
Hard at work on the exhaust and the suspension.
Looking like a car again, with my fiancee pictured hard at work.
Race ready, in lineup, ready to roll out for the feature.
I had so much help on the project, it was really overwhelming to have so many people pitch in and help me put it together.

I was gonna put these in my (re)build thread but there isn't enough traffic hear to worry about mud... Motor was easy to get out.
most of the mangled stuff removed.

The tranny case is going to my buddy the Tig welder today.
And some Teg fenders. It took a port-o-power, a come-along, torch, and some BFH's to get the firewall, inner fender and crossmember back close to where they should be. Just need a little tubing.

I did miss a night but everyone is so tore up there were only four cars showed Friday. I retained my third place in points but went down 100 point from first.... Poe only had one more win in the 88 car and he gets claimed again. He has a third car (87 ZC CRX) that can beat me in the straights but doesn't corner. I want first in points my rookie season.
