I still fail to see how much power the engine makes matters when talking about tranny grinds or synchos. They should only be used when the clutch is fully depressed so no power from the engine should be getting to the main shaft while shifting. The sychos just need to change the main shaft speed to match the needed RPM for the gear you are entering. I could see having a multi disk clutch affecting this since that could change the rotating mass of the main shaft.

If your clutch is fully releasing and you are giving "ample" time when shifting, see if you can get sychros with more "bite" on the gear's cone (maybe in combination with a better fluid). Maybe the carbon lined ones from Sychrotech if they make them for that tranny.

When you were in it how did the teeth on the inside of the sleeves look?

ya this stuff works well. GM cars need to have good fluids, without them their cars wouldn't last at all.
