I just want to EDIT that this was retrocrx's Idea and that I just made my own credit gos to that man.

Any way I made a locking plate for my rear axle today, I used retrocrx's desgin but changed a few things, such as made the base wider and add in the solid gap pice.

so here is my high tech planing station:

and here is my paper model:

If you look colse at the papper you see a black line, that is the template that retrocrx created I however extened it a bit so I had room to weild in the gap pice.

and I am off..... here is the allmost finshed product, my weliding skills and cutting skills are ummm getting there.... any way I need to paint it or powedercoat it before I put it on my car:

Yes weliding the bar is much more simple but I wanted to remove the bar from the axle to save all of that said unsprung weight. Pluse now I have options,

I agree the plate is definatly the better choice since your saving about 20 lbs from the torsion bar and 20 lbs unsprung weight is quite a bit. Just out of curiousity how much did the materials cost you(metal)

About 5 bucks for the 3/8 plate, and I had the bussings from a kit I had laying around, and the guy at the hardware store gave me the pipe.

so... 5 dollars.

what did you use to cut the metal into that shape? So what exactly does this do, allows you to remove the internal rear swaybar?

Looks good

What does that do?

Going to Hawaii? You need a Dune Buggy.

it pretty much turns the rear axle and trailing arms in to a giant anti roll bar... pretty much that is.

The rear axle has a t-bar inside of it, this locking plate elemiates the bar saving weight and also locks the rear trailing arms together, stifing the rear and creating a more nutral sterning.

Beautiful work!
I wonder if RPR would ever produce something like this?
I don't have an efficient way to cut the thick plate.

But doesnt that cause stress (weak point) on the axle since it doesnt have a link to both points the way a sway bar works to distribute the force evenly couldn't something snap.
