drag radials have steel belts and are much heavier than slicks. that extra weight will also cause you to break axles on the line. (ask me how i know). i have been running 22/8/13 mickey thompson et drags with incredible results. 1.85 60's with a turbo ew4. i plan to go up to 24.5's as soon as my budget allows. i never got below a 2.0 with bfg's.

so what is the benifit of running the bigger slick?? if i went with a 22" compared to a 24 or a 20. i have a set of 14" wheels waiting for them. my car only weighs roughly 2000lbs. and im not sure of my clearence for the 24" slicks

taller tires if you can run them will change your gear ratio. My 14 inch wheels are perfect I finish out in 4th gear.

well.... your problem is very obvious. ya see that thingy bolted into your exhaust...that tends to make your wheels spin faster, quicker. try taking that off and sending it to me.....scratch that the whole engine is causing it, and this is not good. So what you need to do is send me that engine and I will trade you a nice engine that wont cause too bad of wheel spin laugh.gif

taller tires will increase the contact patch more than wider tires. i made an illustration to demonstrate, but i think i saw this picture somewhere before.

generally speaking: larger diameter makes a bigger change in contact area than larger width

this doesnt apply if you compare a 1/2 inch diameter increase to an 8 inch wider tire or otherwise stupid comparisons.

air pressure will decide if you break or not. slicks will not give more traction than radials if you run 50psi in them. you have to start at like 25psi and work your way down until it is right for your car (which means just enough spin so you dont break anything). i have run as low as 10psi in my mickeys.

hope that helps,
