  • Description: I picked up this car from a small time auto dealer who won it for $850 at an auction in Alabama. Apparently the car has only had one long-term owner previously. It looks garbage kept with some typical cosmetic blemishes and some 'tried to fix it' blemishes as well to the plastics.

Everything about it seems stock, I've always admired this car from afar with it's very 80s / vaporwave aesthetic. I think it was a lot to do with the front end trim, plastics surrounding it, the dashboard style and of course the rear-end dropoff.

While driving it with the dealer, the car seemed great besides a few squeaks and interior blemishes like carpet, headliner and a smallish hole in the dash. A few days later the car was having trouble starting when engine was warm. I ended up putting in new spark plugs, coil, distributer, and starter. I also noticed blue-ish smoke through the exhaust, indicating possible oil leaks. After putting new thicker oil in and driving it around it seems to have improved. I'm keeping tabs on it though.

I love this car, I'll probably keep it for a year or so and give it some love. As long as it doesn't get too expensive!

    Some things I'm considering:
    - Engine rebuild / Swap
    - Carpet replacement
    - Headliner (ceiling) replacement
    - Upholstering seats (not sure)
    - Fixing the plastics, respraying possibly.
