What is the highest speed anyone has gone in their Civic/CRX?
Not that any of you have done so illegally, :0  I am just interested to compare speeds between stock, modified stock, and you folks with swaps.

I went 115 MPH in my Civic last summer...

I've gone 130 MPH in my friend's WRX, but that's not a Civic or CRX.....

The fastest I've ever driven the good ol' 87Si was 165kms, the damn thing was shaking like never before.  Top speed now (with bald tires and a bad alignment problem) is 120kms, and it shakes even worse.

The fastest I've ever been moving in a car, was 200kms in Europe in a Volvo S80.  I wasn't driving - my uncle's driver
was weaving in and out on a two lane highway. I almost crapped my pants.

I drove a Type-R powered 2G CRX last week, I hit 190km/h (about 120mph) going up a back road near my house. I didn't even realize how fast I was going until I looked at the speedo. I was just enjoying the VTEC... smile.gif

As for my Civic? about 160km/h (100mph), allthough I'm sure it had more in it.

The fastest I've ever gone is 220km/h (140mph) in a 5.0L Mercury Capri (Mustang).

could the shaking come from winds blowing on the light car while moving fast. in my crx when semis go by on highjway there is alot of shaking.

when you lower your front... it "f"s up the camber.. and your tires ware unevenly... jakobs tires and alinement are so bad that the stearing wheel shakes alot when your driving it at 115 to 120... i shakes so much that the dash goes blurry...
wind shouldn't make it shake...

so to correctly fix the shaking i will need camber plates (like the ones offered her by rpr  :) ) and to get new tires
If only i knew what i was doing!!!

i dont think the camber plates work that way... i think they just help through corners... making sure the tire is always planted on the ground evenly... i don't think it makes that much difference when the car isn't turning... correct me if i am wrong...

balancing tires works... but check the air pressure... i know that when it is low it makes the car shake... just check that first... rotate tires and get them balanced... i think that will stop the shaking...

The cause of shaking is out of balance wheels 75% of the time.
I got my tires balanced about year ago, before that about 70-75 MPH my wheel would shake, and I could feel my face shaking.
The day I got them balanced I took it too 100 MPH...smoother than ever.

Alignment helps too, and about 7 PSI under max pressure will make the tires firmer.

It also could be worn inner tie-rods, outer tie-rod ends, or the steering rack. I had the same problem, I had the wheels balanced, twice, alignment done, and it didn't go away until I changed out the tie-rods and ends.
