1 for profit companies in health care is why we american spend more in heath care then other countries and 38% do not have access to care at all,
for profit companies are causing health care cost to increase only in this sector would i say there should be no for profit health care companies
my idea is no for profit basic health ins but for profit health ins supplemental plans this does not mena nonprofit medical suppliers ,pharmasutical companies, hospitals etc

Again, it seems like you believe that healthcare will become cheaper if the government handles it, Ghost. I believe that everyone will pay more through taxes or the premium that you mention. I personally pay something like $220/mo. for health insurance through my job. My insurance company, as we all know, does a good job at lowering costs in various ways. How can you get cheaper than that? As for profits, what intelligent reasonable person would enter the healthcare business if there is not profit to be made. Starting a business is no walk in the park. You put a lot at risk including your time and money. There must be a reward for doing that.

Man.. we should've been talking politics in here a long time ago. I've spent the last couple months pushing for people to look into Ron Paul.. and from what everybody is saying here, I should've been at least mentioning him here too.

Considering he's the most fiscally conservative candidate, against amnesty for illegals, for private healthcare, against abortion but wants it up to the states, not the federal system.. the list goes on.

He'd have one hell of a chance if the media would just cover him (instead of covering him up).. and if people would look at the state of the country, the state of our future, and what we actually need to do to save them.

If anybody wants to take a minute and look him up, his campaign website is RonPaul2008.com.

The way I'm seeing it, Obama is further "left" than Hillary, with both of their big "plans" that they're going to "push for and encourage".. McCain is going to keep us in Iraq (and probably move us into Iran, with his temper), and Huckabee - Huckabee seems to think more with his "gut" than Bush does! (also with his "fiscal responsibility" ..he's running dead broke, now)

Ron Paul has a consistent voting record for over 30 years in the Senate, has never voted to raise taxes, voted against the Patriot Act (seriously, who named this thing? what's patriotic about taking spying on citizens and taking away their rights?), ...the list goes on. I've gotta quit running my mouth here. Look him up!

Ron Paul CANNOT get elected. Thats the sad, but realistic truth.
So rather than seeing one of the socialists get elected, I will vote for the rep. nominee.

I disagree; while I love talking politics and etc. I believe that bar room rules should apply in the forum, even the off topic; politics and religion are bad subjects.

<not sure who I'll vote for, depends on who gets the rep. dem. nominations

The conversation so far seems fairly measured and considered, even between people who are on opposite sides. If it stays civil, I don't see the problem - there is a benefit to exchanging views. If it becomes less than civil, then yeah, shut it down - there is little benefit to exchanging insults.

Ron Paul is the Ralph Nader of 2008, who may help Obama get elected by taking votes away from McCain.

in the macro sense health insurance gets cheaper the larger the group
no one company has 50 million member nore even 100 million
could you imagine a 280 million member group

in the micro sense cost are cheaper if an insured person with the flu can get a prescription for a $4 dollar antibiotic
instead of a non insured person waiting to get pnumonia then going to the hospital and passing along the additional cost to insured customers of that location...

thirdly the economy would improve!
how the 1/6 supposivly uninsured who need healthcare wont have negitives on credit reports allowing to buy nessecities easier

my thinking is that our country lack infrastructure
i want mag- lev trains

iwant a nation haelthcar including mental health so may be tragadeies like virginia tech our society might have a chance to intercept

i say we need at least 5 more nuc plants
we need research in geo thermal energy like iceland got i hear 25% of electricity in island is from volcanos and shit
I want o build a fence around texas to keep thos chinless, inbred, walmart loving , fat asses stay in their own country

Ron Paul will NOT run 3rd party, so he will not be the ralph nader of 2008, he has been elected as a republican congressman for the past several years and has no intentions of going independent. Even though Ron Paul may not be the next president, his message has rung loud and clear. At least now SOME people have awaken to see the problems at hand. His campaign has brought about the largest grassroots effort in History. The media has done a fine job of "herding the sheep" and covering up Ron Paul, all the corporate masters were served well. None the less, the patriot act, real id, H.R. 1955 they all have to be overturned and stopped. With whats left, the future looks somewhat grim for America, its either let a badly managed foreign policy destroy us or let socialism destroy us. Either way, with the falling dollar and tension overseas, shit will hit the fan soon.

I have supported Ron Paul and donated since I have heard his message, and I will continue to do so.

In the end, the people get the government they deserve.

I pray to god we should be so lucky laugh.gif I don't usually like any republican presidential runners (I do like Dole.. a little) but ron paul and huckabee would be alright... anybody but McCain or Clinton- McCain's "cowboy" diplomacy attitude is worse than Bush's bravado facade and Hillary... I would like to see a woman in office just not her, I liked BIll but hillary... she isn't as well put together

I will vote for anyone who picks Colbert as their running mate but I won't trust huckabee' word enough to spend my vote on him in the primary.

socialized medicine could destroy the US just like it did in Canada, England, France... laugh.gif

Without question - but it hasn't happened yet. Until we start seeing the ad hominem's (and it is inevitable), the discussion is moving forward from a position of mutual respect.

just some thing I found about Ron Paul

Who is Ron Paul?

Congressman Ron Paul is the leading advocate for freedom in our nation's capital. As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Dr. Paul tirelessly works for limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies. He is known among his congressional colleagues and his constituents for his consistent voting record. Dr. Paul never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution. In the words of former Treasury Secretary William Simon, Dr. Paul is the "one exception to the Gang of 535" on Capitol Hill.

lRon Paul was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Gettysburg College and the Duke University School of Medicine, before proudly serving as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force during the 1960s. He and his wife Carol moved to Texas in 1968, where he began his medical practice in Brazoria County. As a specialist in obstetrics/gynecology, Dr. Paul has delivered more than 4,000 babies. He and Carol, who reside in Lake Jackson, Texas, are the proud parents of five children and have 17 grandchildren.

While serving in Congress during the late 1970s and early 1980s, Dr. Paul's limited-government ideals were not popular in Washington. In 1976, he was one of only four Republican congressmen to endorse Ronald Reagan for president.

During that time, Congressman Paul served on the House Banking committee, where he was a strong advocate for sound monetary policy and an outspoken critic of the Federal Reserve's inflationary measures. He was an unwavering advocate of pro-life and pro-family values. Dr. Paul consistently voted to lower or abolish federal taxes, spending and regulation, and used his House seat to actively promote the return of government to its proper constitutional levels. In 1984, he voluntarily relinquished his House seat and returned to his medical practice.

Dr. Paul returned to Congress in 1997 to represent the 14th congressional district of Texas. He presently serves on the House Committee on Financial Services and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. He continues to advocate a dramatic reduction in the size of the federal government and a return to constitutional principles.

Congressman Paul's consistent voting record prompted one of his congressional colleagues to say, "Ron Paul personifies the Founding Fathers' ideal of the citizen-statesman. He makes it clear that his principles will never be compromised, and they never are." Another colleague observed, "There are few people in public life who, through thick and thin, rain or shine, stick to their principles. Ron Paul is one of those few."

^-- That really says a lot too, b/c people can get up on stage and change w/e they say to make anyone happy. However, you past record tells who you are.
