I have a 87 integra that runs and drives but the car itself is in rough shape. I have my 87 civic si that is much much much better shape but has a blown motor. I wondering what else I need? Does anyone have a running driving D16A1 in a civic?

If it's the same as the CRX

You need to put the 1.5L drivers side mount on the D16A1. And If I remember correctly the Rear tranny mount from the 1.5 also.

The front tranny mount would be from the 1.6.

You will need to extend the shifter linkage by about 2 inches to get the shifter in the right spot.

Fuel is plug and play

Wiring is plug and play

REAL EASY!!

The tricky part is axles. Issue is the hubs on the teg and the hubs on the Civic have a different # of splines so a teg axle wont fit in a civic hub. Simplest solution would be seeing as you have both cars......take the whole knuckle assy with hub from the teg and put it on the civic.

Thats the short explanation.

ive done this swap into a CRX.
It should be an indentical swap.
you need:
integra engine
integra trans
integra axles
integra linkage
integra front knuckles
integra front brakes
integra ECU
integra engine wiring harness
integra FI control box (black box mounted on firewall)
integra IACV (silver box near DS shock tower)
Civic front engine mount (near T-belt)
Integra trans and rear engine mounts
One of the integra Radiator hoses (cant recall which, but if it fits use it...)

Optional:
Integra rear disc brakes
Integra brake proportioning valve

this swap is CAKE if you have a donor car.
If you happen to be from an area near Cincinnati OH I can help you.

Youll want an engine hoist, and air tools if you can.

i've done my homework on the swap. the one answer i never seem to get a straight answer on is the wiring. some posts say you need the integra engine harness. some say the motor plugs directly into the civic harness. any clarification would be great. thats the last remaining piece to the puzzle for me. thanks

Civic harness works...that's what I used. But the Teg should just plug in. If you use the Civic harness you need to extend a few wires.......to the TPS I think........it's been a long time since I did this swap.

you want the integra engine bay harness.
the plugs mate right up to the civic. You will need to make 7 wiring changes, but they are very easy.
I think I still have the info somewhere if you cant find it here.

The reason you want the integra harness is so that you can use the integra ECU and FI control box.
this will give you the better integra A/F map and higher redline.

Whatever you say.....

The teg computer plugs into the civic harness......

I have a 7800rpm Fuel cutoff.

I think you are talking about a black top D16A1 not the Brown top?

The brown top is PLUG AND PLAY.

i know the civic harness plugs into the integra ECU.

So youre saying you have the the integra 7500RPM redline and youve kep the civic's FI control box?
And youve used the civic harness for everything (fuel injectors, sensors, etc)
If thats the case, great I didnt think that way was an option.

I used the Civic engine harness on the Teg motor, (JDM ZC in my case) I extend the TPS wire, that's all.

I used the Civic Chassis Harness to the ECU

I used the Teg ECU. (I have actually used the Civic ECU also) Both work with no difference I can tell. Maybe redline?

Plug and play except for the one wire to extend.

Dead Easy

laugh.gif . see, that's why i never could find just a straight answer. some say it plugs right in, some say it doesnt.

so the latest three answers i got were:
-extend tps wire
-engine harness, 7 wire changes
-everything plugs up, no wiring, just route the injectors oddly

I'm not positive why but this is the one topic that i never seem to get any two answers a like. I think i'll just take note of everything that might be an issue and start the swap with them in mind. that way if it comes up i know how to fix it. i do appreciate all the information from both of you.

Funkmaster, i'll have to try to look up your thread later when i have more time.

wow that is easy, im not sure if the JDM ZC browntop's electronics differ from the 86-87 USDM d16a1 browntop though.
I had to change some wiring and extend a few over to the DS of the engine bay to make it work right.

I have done EXACTLY what this guy is talking about except for the CRX to Civic.
I had an 87 Integra Donor car with the swap going into my 87 CRX Si.

86-87 Browntop is direct swap, plug and play using the pg7 ecu. The blacktop requires wiring work and a pg6 ecu. You dont have to use the integra rear bracket and mount, you can use the civic mount and bracket. The only integra mount/bracket you have to have is the integra transmission bracket. The mount has rubber, the bracket is all metal, that is the difference. You can use youre civic alternator on the integra engine with a shorter belt, a 88-91 alternator will aloow you to use the stock belt. The civic starter will work on the integra transmission. You can use the integra shift linkage(curved bar) with the civic stabilizer bar on the shifter assembly.

Drag, are you ready to do the swap? Lemme know. 2 brains are better than one when it comes to it. I have off until wednesday, with a few chores in between.
Honda, because it's hard to look baller in your mom's Volvo.Posted Image
The entire tool selection at Sears or the contents of a Snap-On truck will do you no good if you do not know how to use them.
