Steel Panhard Weld in Brace / Aluminum Nut-sert Brace Group Buy

Save your cars rear panhard bar mount by adding a weld in brace. There has been many braces to fail in the past, mostly due to abuse and rust, but with this brace help eliminate the chance of it breaking. Below are photos of the aluminum brace, which will include all the hardware and nutserts. The steel one will be a weld on design. Please specify which one you want.

,

What happens after it breaks

,

Heres the computer designed version

Here is the aluminum bolt in style.

See this thread to have a look at the making of, and as soon as we have a couple purchases I will go ahead and weld one into my car and do a how to. Anyone with a mig welder can accomplish this upgrade to the rear brace if you purchase a steel one. If you purchase an aluminum one, then you will need a drill.

Ive went through the design and changed it a bit, not a 100 percent sure yet, but I am going to try and make it like this picture below depending on feedback.

OK they are all ready to order! They can be made as soon as we get the money for 5 of them.

Here is the installed pictures.

So first of all what your going to need the following tools.

Felt Tipped Pen or Marker

17 mm wrench
2x 12mm wrenches
1/2" wrench

10mm socket
7/16" socket
Ratchet (1/4")

Drill of your choice
3/8" Drilll Bit (I used a 23/64 for a tighter fit)
1/4" Drill Bit
Nutsert tool
Floor Jack
Jack Stand

So first of all your going to want to loosen the lugs on the Driver Side wheel
Jack up the car on the rear Driver Side under the trailing arm mount
Remove the wheel and support the car with a Jack Stand

Use a 17mm open end wrench and remove the Driver Side Panhard Bar bolt
Then slide the panhard bar down and out of the way.

Next you need to remove the gas tank. Do this by removing the gas tank straps from the rear of the car using two 12mm wrenches, its nice to have a ratchet wrench and some WD-40 to make your life easier. You can see that I didnt full remove the gas tank as Im upgrading mine right away, so I will finish installing the brace when I get my EFI tank. You may need to remove a few hoses, vent, and filler spout. See picture below.

Next you need to mock up the new mount.

Next you need to mark the holes.

After drilling you can start by drilling the holes with a 1/4" drill bit.
Then a 3/8" (23/64)

Now you can install the nutserts. Pictured below is a nutsert seated with a hamer into the first hole.

Now you can flare them using the allen key, nutsert tool and 1/2" wrench.

Now install all of the 1/4" bolts and washers.

Use the 3/8" drill to drill a hole through the mount for the gas tank strap in the original spot.

Reinstall the gas tank and panhard bar, and your done.
