So I really need a new clutch. I have the FSM and have a strong mechanical background so I'm more than willing to tackle this myself but want some advice on the procedure or any tips or tricks some seasoned RPR techs may have. Thanks for anything you can give me

There is no pilot bushing or bearing in the flywheel, so the clutch alignment tool is useless, Dave

I used a deep well socket that just happen to fit the hole in the crank shaft wile also fitting the hole in the clutch disk, to align mine. Worked good enough to hold the disk in place wile I bolted up the pressure plate.

'couple of wraps of masking tape around the nose of my clutch alignment tool made for a perfect fit into the flywheel.

Thank you all good info. This seems like a easy transmission to pull. Afternoon in the backyard type project!

My son and I are learning a lot from our project car. I will start a build thread once the real work starts just getting info and parts lined up

Don't take the axles out of the hubs. leave them bolted in, and drop the strut out of the tower.  The whole hub, strut and axle will swing out just enough to clear the gearbox. Saves a lot of time, and avoids the need for a realignment as you don't touch the areas affecting alignment.

Otherwise it is a simple enough exercise.

This is great! I was just thinking I was needing to replace the clutch in my '85 civic. Any ideas on good clutches? I'm kinda hard on mine, lol.
