Fastest speedlimit i know of around here is 70mph. Most of the roads are 60 so 55 wouldnt be that bad, but im 110% against it.

55 made sence when we had 4500lbs carburated big block cars with 3speed transmissions. Not now, fuel injection, small displacments and 5-6-7spd transmissions with Overdrives or multipul overdrives negates any use of a 55mph limit.

I hated 55MPH in the bad old days and hate the thought of that being forced upon us again. Of course that would mean 65MPH in this area going by current trends of traffic law enforcement.
Every day of life is a gift...........live it that way.

Right on, CarolinaCRX. The speed limit on I10 around me is 65 or 70, if I remember correctly. However, it is rare to see someone doing less than 85(and you don't get a ticket until you're going about 95, unless you're being just plain reckless and shifting lanes constantly). This means, if the speed limit were 55, you'd most likely see everyone doing about 75-80 with no tickets. Doesn't make much sense, IMO.

If only the politicians were in touch with the real world, and the way their bosses(us) had to live.

i think they just want more funding for police depts.... obviously this will raise the amount of speeding ticket wich seems to be on the rise lately anyway, the rise in gas prices has to be affecting the p.d. s pockets as well

Well, of course we don't expect our lawmakers to have to follow the same laws they pass for us do you? I'm sure they have some sort of diplomatic immunity right? Unless they are in an airport men's room or surfing for escorts and the media grabs it.

i suspect sarcasm, but in reality, i wouldnt expect a police officer to give an out of uniform co-worker a speeding ticket, or his boss, or his boss' boss or the governor, or any other political figure that he recognized and was in his chain of command... if you were a cop and you pulled over your pick for this coming election for 15 over the speed limit would you give him a ticket, a warning, or just let him go?

I don't know, let's see?
1. Obama. Crime; DWB (Driving While Black, a felony in the south, and NYC). Punishment- a beating, search, implantment of narvcotics, false charges.
2.McCain. Crime; DWO (Driving while old, doing 35 in a 55mph zone, meandering thru 3 lanes looking for exit with blinker on for 9 miles)
Punishment-Switching his Geritol with a Xtacy/Viagara mix during the search, planting some hard core young male gay magazines in his trunk leading to a possible child porn investigation.

This could be a tough one. I think maybe the mods should ad a poll?

I for one, follow all posted speed limits, and abide by all the laws at all times. I welcome the opportunity for people well trained in vehicle dynamics and road engineering to make laws regarding how I should drive so it takes all the guesswork out for me.

DWA-Driving while Asian. Oriental is a slang regional term, and sometimes offensive. I 'm suprised cracking on them hasn't incited them to karate chop a math book at you.
