Ran across this link this morning. If you haven’t seen Jay Lenos garage videos yet, this could keep some of you busy for a while. This one is particularly interesting seeing as it’s a Honda 600 that he had restored.

Wait till you hear the sound! I never would’ve imagined a 600cc four cylinder could sound like that!
Lenos' 600

Near the end he mentions something about it being a lot more fun to drive an underpowered car quickly.
I’ve been saying that since my first car, which had 42hp and weighed about 1400lbs.

If you love the Elise, drive a Se7en - Caterham or whatever...
It has even less content than the Elise, is less graceful looking

This was posted on another forum I frequent, I swear I spent 2 or more hours on that site watching videos of Jay's incredible collection..

That 600 is something else isn't it? :drools: It is now my goal to make my 4 banger sound like that one!

This could very well be the first honest to goodness Honda restoration video I've seen that didn't involve 'Phat 20's' or underbody neons.

Thanks for posting!!

You don't need to constantly force oil into the bearings since they're more like the wheel bearings on our cars... small round or cylindrical bearings that spin, instead of flat pieces of metal that need to float on a cushion of oil. They're just bathed in the oil at no pressure.

what an amazing car. Brian baker who jay mentions as well as Formula H is about 30 minutes from my job. very cool place to visit. they have a bunch of 600s, 800s they even have a super rare T 360 truck in very nice shape.leno ranks his 600 in his top 5 favorite to drive, that says alot coming from a guy with so many cars.

ohmy.gif That's awesome! What a great sound coming from that engine! My local Honda dealer has a yellow one, but I've never seen or heard it run. Nice to see the Hondas gettin' respect. Nice job Jay!

I like that car but the S800 is my favorite. Leno sure is funny. I like the comment about him looking like a circus bear driving it.

600cc four cylinder

The 600s had TWO Cylinder 600 cc Air Cooled engines.

They were never Four Cylinders.

I have seen one with a 900 cc Kawasaki Z1 engine in it.

Damn Fast.

You're Mad!

Well thank God for that, 'cause if I wasn't, this would probably have never worked.

The later ones that were imported into the US, yes. That car was never imported here and I'll bet that's the original engine. BTW, the original Honda 750 four motorcycle also had roller bearing crankshafts. Just like that 600 does.
