I recently acquired a 1987 civic wagon. I've decided to do a d16y8 with ex hydro transmission. I saw several companies making carb manifolds for the newer vtec motors, whether it be bike carbs or dcoe weber's. I went head and ordered hasports 84-87 civic d hydro mounts. To start off i started looking into the wiring differences of the oem harness. I wanted to start with the distributor. If any of you guys by chance know what all the wires from the factory coil on carb car are i can fill in the blanks. I know everything about the obd2a distributor.

Obd2a distributor d16y8

ckp position + light blue

ckp position -  white

cyp position + yellow

cyp position -  black

tdc sensor + green

tdc sensor -  red

rpm signal : dark blue

ign output : black/yellow

stock wiring 87 carb car coil passenger fender

thin black/yellow- to distributor from bottom coil plug- funcition guess? ignition?

blue to distributor from bottom coil plug??function??

thin black grounds to housing

thick black/yellow to top coil plug- back to wire harness

blue to top coil plug back to wire harness

theres a few more wires in the area that have a junction relay and a green plug that goes back into the engine harness. these above wires are the main concern for function of the distributor. does anyone know thes wires functions or have a lead on a wiring diagram? I assume with the d16y8 distributor most will be deleted or not used as there isn't any use from modern position sensors.

I have tons of old single cam parts laying around is the largest reason for my choice, most junk yards around here wanted between 550-860 for a ew that hasnt run in years.

I would start here: http://www.redpepper...Civ-fsm-wiring/

Good luck. I've done a similar conversion, but I converted to FI and used a full FI wiring and fuel system.
