Yes, i believe somebody did do that, i think it was in a honda tuning mag, i don't think they were able to use the hood though

If everything is together? do a compression check and then a leak down check. Is everything apart? Is your block warped? Or maybe your head warped? Check it with a staight metal ruler, i bought mine at harbor freight.

Yes in-tank filter clogged (common problem). I I run an inline plastic filter (G3 Fram) before the pump. Got ride of the in-tank filter.
