Hi everyone, please bare with me, it's my first post...well the first where I'm contributing something...

I've always liked the look of front end park lights in the bumper. Like many Japanese vehicles the park lights are separate from the signals. So I wanted to add the park functionality to the bumper signals...

To me the cleanest way was to use an 1157 dual filament bulb - allowing me to use both functions. I purchased aftermarket sockets (3 wire: ground/park/signal) from my local Canadian Tire to use with these bulbs. They turned out to be crap, so I ended up using OEM Toyota sockets my dad had laying around from a LandCruiser taillight.

Since the Honda lights don't have removable sockets i used a saw to chop them off; then trimming off enough to allow for the sockets to twist in.

Then I fit in the socket and used a small amount of silicone to seal it up. I didn't use glue since the socket sat in the light nice and tight once it was twisted in place. It will also make it easier to remove if ever I need to.

I tied in to the wiring for the existing park lights and used what was there before for the signal and ground connections. I used good quality connectors which will make it easy to disconnect the lights when I remove the bumper and gives it a nice finished look.

All finished up, still looking like it came from the factory!

I hope this helps anyone who may have been looking to do the same or similar. It wasn't a difficult job, just a little time consuming - like everything else in the life of custom work...

good job! how do they work when indicating with the side light on? just as if there were 2 bulbs in the same housing or do they switch between functions?

another way to do this is to use indicator/sidelight units from a mk2 or 3 accord (i think). these have 2 separate bulbs and a split housing which is half orange and half white. i have had them installed for over 2 years and never got round to putting a fancy plug on like that yet! lol

The bulb is a dual filament bulb, so one filament with a higher resistance is used for the park lights (which is dimmer). When I signal, the park light filament stays on, and the second, lower resistance filament lights up (brighter) - much the same concept as the rear park light and brake lights on the wagon.

Didn't know about the Accord lights; do they fit in the same size hole and bolt up to the existing holes?

Yeah the plug is pretty fancy lol, just something my dad had laying around in the garage!
