And one more thing-

I buttoned everything up pretty well. All connections to torque...or so I thought.

I had a "clunk" in the left front suspension that I could not track down. Finally I got the wheel off and took a good look around. Wait a  minute, the left front strut was not seated all the way down in the knuckle. Well I can fix that, just get it into place and tighten that 17mm bolt that locks the clasping part of the knuckle. Whoops, that bolt would not tighten property, the threads in the knuckle are toast.

I replaced the stock bolt with a nylock nut and bolt combination on the offending side and on the other side as well for safety.

Just something to consider.

Yep.  Had that same problem.  Replaced the stock bolt with a grade 8 bolt and locking nut.

I did the same thing, the shock came out of the upright while I was driving down a ski park hwy with tire chains on.
