Building a new engine which will find a home in this car for at least a little while.

Track build, so B18C block milled to 81.5mm, B16 head, B16b pistons, eagle crankshaft, aftermarket connecting rods, 0.050 cometic headgasket to reduce the compression ratio to around 12.5, new oil pump, baffled sump. Will need an oil cooler. based on my experience with the current motor which saw serious oil temperatures at normal highway speeds (60mph).

Head is being worked on to accommodate skunk 2 Pro3 camshafts which have huge lift and duration (13mm plus valve lift), so skunk pro series valve springs, titanium retainers, spring type lost motion assemblies. Will work the bowl and intake chamber somewhat. Holley throttle body at 68mm; Edelbrock victor x intake manifold. The cam is capable of going to 10,000 plus rpm so it needs a supporting valve train.

Will be running a metal plate lsd and 5.1 final drive in the gearbox.  Looking forward to what it can produce.

Probably my last big performance build so trying to do it right.

Sounds like a beast of a motor. Not sure if things have changed on that intake manifold but NA cars didn’t care for them. I got one when JG was working with them and the TB as well. Lost mid range power. Switched back to the type R manifold with the JG/Edelbrock TB and it all came back and even gained some up top.

perhaps they have more than one version now but back then it was really meant for turbo cars. Sold it to my buddy who has 1000 plus HP motors so he could try it.

I hear you. It is a large volume plenum with short large runners, so maintaining flow velocity will be an issue at lower revs. The current engine is constrained by the intake and exhaust according to the tuner, so this is an attempt to address that at the top end. Will be accepting a less efficient engine at low and midrange rpm.
