I'll stay with three gauges. The Turbo gauge is for a friend.

Well...all here I'm sure are awaiting the completed projects on both the seating and gauges. Best of luck!

Krote i am digging your car it is similar to what Ihave in mind for mine. Did you remove the black trim that runs on the side of most, or was your car not so afflicted with this plague to begin with? I hated it and tore it free and am planning on welding the ridge/ square mounting holes to shave door panels smooth, possibly even the other ridge too.. Not sure yet I'm going to play it by eye

My Civic didn't come with the side mouldings from factory, but I always wanted them. I'm happy that I found these aftermarket ones, which don't have the ever rotting metal core inside. So it's a win-win situation: No holes in the side, no rotten core in the mouldings.

Since the idea with the gauges first came up, I was looking for a nice OEM looking solution to mount them. I guess I found it. I picked up an old gauge bezel from an Audi 80. It's a lot nicer than the cheap universal part I had before.
I shortend it a bit, sanded the edges down a bit and cleared some space in the console itself. And no, I didn't hacked the perfectly good insert with the unbroken clear latch apparts. I had a second one laying around where the latch already was broken and somebody tried to fit an equalizer in it. I can tell you, it's not a good idea to install an EQ and blocking it's vents in the process... A lot of the stuff was melted.

Looking forward to seeing your finished product after you "blend" it all together...fiberglass or ?

I try to salvage as much as possible from the original plastic to fill the gaps. It's quite easy to cut, grind and glue and quite thick, so I have a bit material to work with. The rest will be done with fiberglass bondo.

Outstanding! This will look like a piece of OE kit when you're done. What paint are you using on this plastic and what are the two cutouts at the rear of the top for...wiring chases?

That's the goal, that it look like OEM in the end.
So far I'm not sure what exact paint I'll use. It will be black, nothing else is planed yet.
The cut outs are from the original console insert.

I assumed it would be a black or dark grey "off black" color...I was referring to the need for a specialized type of paint to adhere effectively to the plastic, or so I'd been led to believe? How much time have you actually expended on this, getting it to this point?

I finally dicided to just use the paint I always use. Acylic flat black out of the spray can. I did my bumper mouldings with that stuff as well. I have to check the result again, when it fully dried.
