ok i keep seeing this topic come up in treads and insted of hijacking another one i thought make one for it.

ok there seems to be a argument on if your going other then stock header you need a si oil pan. so im doing a poll and a list of what you guys have to see if there is a diff.

i say no. since i have one on my stock d15a1 that i got off a fellow rpr. my header is a dc 4-1 and i have about a 1 inch space between the header and oil pan. bolted right up.
you say you dont belive it i have picks of it and fellow rprs have seen it.

i have also been told that another person has had a few aftermarket headers on his ew/d15 with no hassle.

im woundering if we should get more info on this like what engine is the one that dosnt accept the headers and what car. maybe honda used diff pans for diff cars. or years.
so heres the list. as you reply with yours i will update the list.

engine year model trim header fit y/n

d15a1 87 hatch 1500S dc 4-1 Y
ew1 86 hatch std dc 4-2-1 N
ew1 84 sedan gl dc 4-2-1 N
ew2 ? crx ? ? 4-2-1 Y
? ? ? ? opm 4-2-1 Y
? ? ? ? mug 4-2-1 Y
? ? ? ? dc 4-2-1 N
d15a3 ? ? ? dc N

EW1 84 Sedan with DC sports 4-2-1, No

I also needed the Si pan to make the new header fit. I say if you got the chance grab an Si oil pan because it has baffles in it and the stock one doesn't.

I'm currently running an OPM 4-1 race header. It does work with the stock DX pan (designed for both the Si & the DX). My old, original Mugen DX header fit the stock DX pan. Back then, Mugen offered two headers..... a DX header fit both, but the Si header only fit if you had the Si pan.

When my Mugen header rotted out sad.gif I replaced it with a DC sports 4-2-1 header. It did require an Si pan, but I went with the Moroso racing pan instead since it has an extra 1.5 qt capacity and really nice 4-way trapdoor style baffles.

If I decide to change headers, I will probably go with one designed to run specifically with the Si/Moroso pan in order to get a little more ground clearence. Since the OPM header is designed to work with the Dx pan, it does hang down just a tad lower.

I am using an "Other" oil pan on my D15A3, in this case a Moroso extra capacity pan with bungs for turbo oil return. I got it cheap, used but never installed, from eBay and it is pretty nice. My DC Sport header passes under it perfectly.

In reality, there is no compelling reason to get the Moroso pan unless you are going turbo, the stock Si pan works fine.

Or you are racing on slicks, which does tend to pull the oil away from the pick-up even if you use the Si pan, due to the higher cornering loads than you would otherwise see on DOT tires, and you don't want the expense or hassle of running an Accusump............

Its a lil offtopic, but i just picked up an almost new moroso for my b series........only 130shipped

If you look around, you would have to pay the normal 400+ for shit....just look around and maybe it will be worth it

Jonesy: Yah its weird, that header looks like it won't flow very good becuase of the tapers it has but it made good power. I used to have a 4-1 header and weber carb and both those mods had less power than that header. I don't know what kind it is but it works good.

What about the stock d15A2 engine oil pan with a 4-2-1 header. I would love to know you don't need the Si pan.

Thanks!!
