The seats in my crx are just shot. I was wondering what other seats from another honda vehicle and what years would work just so i can expand my search a little bit. Integra, civic, prelude? Will seats from say a fourth gen civic bolt right in for instance?

Just remember the critical part (in my opinion) is the
height of the seat pan from the floor. I had this set of
"recaro" things I bought used one time. They made my
head just touch the roof. If you crash you have a big
problem. I'm 5 10.

Also your legs wont be straight enough. Our cars are made
for the legs straight position. If you bend your knees you end
up very uncomfortable.

I know this does not help you in selection but I wanted to share
what I have learned.

If I were getting seats I would be tempted to get those cheapo
recaro knockoffs on ebay, the one with the very low seat pan.

none of the other honda seats will easily bolt right in. They can be made to fit, with some effort, which will usually require swapping/fabbing the rails. It may be possible to get say a 3G prelude seat or 2nd gen CRX seat to fit the CRX rails and work. I put a flofit in my car, and even with the lowest possible mounting I could come up with (flofit seat rails bolted to stock CRX locations) headroom is/was still a problem. Bottom line, other seats can fit but be prepared for a good bit of DIY fabrication and mount/rail modification.

Wrong.
88 CRX seat Bolt In. Use the 84-87 Rails on the 88-91 Seat pan and you have a perfect fit.

But

Depending on where you live the 88-91 CRX seats share the same seat pan as the 84-87 CRX (this is why it works)
however some US owners have reported a seat pan swap is needed to fit 90-91 seats due to a seat pan change?
Can someone chime in here. But in Canada it's a no brainer.

yeah i was figuring i would have to do some adjusting here and there to get others to fit. I may just look at what it would cost to get the stock seat reupholstered. that would probably be the easiest route just not the ceapest :(

i dunno im still putting the motor back together so seat modification will have to wait. thanks for all the input. That pic is that from the write up from modified hondas? The 85 si i believe? That car is so clean i wish mine was somewhere close to that

Anyone wanting to swap out worn out(or uncomfortable) 1G crx seats without any modifying or fabricating... 86-89 Prelude seats bolt right in and are VERY comfy. The seats I picked up were from a Prelude SI (don't know if there's any difference between them and the regular 'lude) and bolted right in - no rail or seat pan swap. EZ PZ!

I had hubby try them out and he had ~1.5" of headroom (he's 5'10") - looked to be the same as with the stock seats. He said the side bolster was really good, too. Me? I'm 5'3" and a good bit lighter than him - the seats set high enough that I have good visibility over the hood; the side bolsters are a non-issue, but still, these seats are really nice.

I suggest asking a local upholstery shop how much it would cost to rebuild the stock seats. It might be cost effective. You can specify the material (leather if you want it) and the seat frame is designed to fit your car.

Doesn't WolfCRX make new covers for our seats? I used some Accord seats in my 1500S, they were awesome! Not sure what year cause I got them for free off craigslist but I had to make some brackets to get them to fit. They consisted of two long pieces of 1" flat stock per seat. In each flat stock Two holes drilled for the accord seat pan bolting position, and two for the civic brackets that I also had to weld nuts on to bolt the seat rails to the brackets I made. Did make it a bolt in but minor welding was involved.

Pretty much any seat is going to be higher than the stock seats which are designed to fit under a low ceiling.

The Prelude SI seats I just put into my 1G are the same height as the stock seats...
