Is the Delrin lighter or heavier than Aluminium?

I might have it off you if all Alu's are gone. smile.gif

The Delrin is much lighter than the aluminum.

I still have two over-sized square in black Delrin. Tom may also have some left.

I agree. The Delrin is what I made for myself. I just love the feel of it. Especially when it's super cold!

No, I don't put my cars in the garage. Garages are not for cars. They are for machine tools. biggrin.gif

Derlin is the way to go!

David, do you use a white knob? You were cautious about making them in white because they would get dirty fast. I'm using my white one and it's stayed white. Plus the more I use it the more worn and smooth it gets and that seems like it helps to keep out dirt.

Also, the large block one wont fit on a DC short shifter. The shifter is too thick too fast.

I like it even more when its super hot!!!
Those aluminum knobs WILL burn your hand if theyve been sitting in direct sunlight.

I don't use the white, but others report back to me that did buy the white knobs with a similar story as yours. The hand somehow polishes the Delrin over time, and it sort of seals it. If we ever do a run of these again, I'm changing my tune on the whites. I could also see the white Delrin being better in super hot weather.

Sorry about the oversized square you bought not fitting on your special shifter. You should have mentioned something when I was still filling orders. I would have gladly sent you another one with the thread much closer to the end, instead of being tapped so deep. I know Tom got some with the thread out on the end. There is room to open up that bottom clearance hole a bit. You might be able to enlarge it enough to make it fit onto the DC short shifter you have.

Just be careful if you drill it larger. The Delrin is soft enough compared to the drill, that it could grab. I only mention this because I don't want you to get hurt. wink.gif

I would also be willing to make you one and post it off with the thread out on the end (no charge of course). I feel bad you didn't say anything. sad.gif

David.

Not really. I think I may have an aluminum one, I thought I still had some delrin, but I can't find them.
