Let's face it, the breed is endangered. Where casual sightings was once an everyday occurrence, today any kind of appearance is reason to post on the web. Our old cars are threatened with... extinction. These are drastic times which require drastic methods.

The future survival of the species is dependant upon active management of the existing stocks. Sadly, captive breeding has been disappointing, they seem to only procreate in the specific conditions of their native habitat in Japan. Even more disturbing, the mating grounds have been reconfigureed many times over, the stamping dies and other tooling is gone.

With this in mind I propose a program of catch and release to place tracking tags on all 1983- 1987 model year Honda and their genetic mutation... the Acura. Only by closely managing the existing DNA stock can we possibly hope to allow the existing stock to survive.

This program will require a large volunteer participation. I envision RPR members slipping discreet tracking tags on cars in parking lots, climbing through backyards and searching barns for hidden specimens. Members with sunroof equipped cars can be enlisted to have a second volunteer use a dart gun to tag lucky specimens still "on the hoof."

These unique old cars represent a special contribution to the general Automobile genus and the Honda family, (Automobilus Hondaius CeeReXus) that can not be allowed to go the way of less loved cars.

Help preserve these old cars, volunteer today.

Hi Scott.

You're right - my captive breeding program is just not getting results. It could be gender - how do I tell which crx's are female and which are male?

Determining gender is difficult as this one of the rare species that can change its sex. Most of the breed start out decidedly female but when they mature they grow a pair (of cam shafts).

You'll be happy to know that I saw three 3g hatchies this afternoon while driving the streets of San Francisco. All were well preserved examples of the breed. Strangely though, all three were blue cars (definitely three different examples of the species seen in different parts of town). All were seen as possessing middle age to older humans sitting within. None were blessed in the evolution cycle of being of the swifter Si gene pool variety.

I spotted a rare breed.
The FirstGenis CeeReXus HighFuelius.

No battle wounds, a nice original white shimmering coat. It contained a very elderly lady within.
Needless to say I quickly loaded up my dart gun ( i got mine on pre-order guys) and tagged her.

Unfortunately, the window was down, I hit the old lady, and she crashed into a tree....Whoops

5 reasons cars are better than women

5) You can rub and wax a car in your driveway and not get arrested
4) Car's don't get mad at you for no reason every 28 days
3) You can't put a bumper sticker that says "How's my driving? Dial 1-800- EAT-S*IT!" on a woman.
2) You can sell your car to a complete stranger and nobody will get mad at you
1) Women can't go 200 miles per hour.

A bit like fish then - change gender with age. So I need to find a young crx. Hmmm.

I was going to suggest artificial insemination, but I think the topic has been milked enough.

Strangely, artificial insemination seems to be a cross species behavioral pattern. I know that nearly every example in the breed has bent it's owner (oops, sorry, human companion) over and at least metaphorically "mated" them quite deeply in the wallet.
