I was wondering if anyones fabbed up some rear suspention limiters for these cars? I need to find a cheaper way to stiffen up the rear end without having to buy massive springs. Its going to be used only for drag racing...

come on! RSX springs only cost a few dollars more than a combo meal at a fast food restaurant

there was a set of 1000 lb springs for cheap on ebay a week ago, dont know if they are still there.... if you have a coilover kit any 6x2.5? or 2.25 i keep mixing them up.... 2g crx kits are the same size and stiffer, but lack the tophat to fit the 1g springseat.... you could fab some of those up and get the cheap ebay 2g kit and it works plus its stiffer than the gc kit... from experience, im running it on my car right now, and i love it for the street/strip, but for strictly strip id go 600-1000 lb

Well im running eibachs and some tokico illuminas in the back right now. Quite frankly, the eibachs suck for this. I think im going to end up buying 1000 lb springs for the back of it.

Ok so sue me here(dont please) but I dont see any dis-advantage to having suspension limiters (or straps) on the rear suspension. Why would these be a problem??

Well from my experience with suspension limiters, I've only seen them used to limit droop. On a drag car, especially on the rear of a FWD vehicle, it's not going to help or hinder you in any way.

Or are you looking at something that would limit the amount of squat that the rear of the car does? The simplest way to do that would be with higher spring rates and/or stiffer shocks. If the car is lowered much you might want to consider raising the front mounting point for the trailing arms too. The straighter (more level) that arm is the better your rear suspension will work.

for some reason I think I remember hearing that on some FWD drag cars they would just weld the rear shocks? That would pretty much give you a solid rear suspension with no give. Im sure it would ride like complete shit, but if its a drag only car it might work.

It's a nitrogen gas, which is inert, and the pressure is 'supposed' to be low.

I agree with both of you though, not a really good idea.

LilBuddy and C8V6C both had GC's with really high spring rates in the rear for their drag setups, and both of them manged good times. I think C8V6C has 1000# and i think Buddy had 800 or 900#. Seems like thats the route to go.

im guessing mine are around 450-600, havent run them on the strip yet, im gonna get my bf's and skunk2 cams in there first.... wich could be a while (my child support just doubled lol) so im waiting on $ for the bf's. the gauge is reading 1-2 seconds faster than it was when i ran at the track last time though, and the egay springs are noticeably stiffer on and off the car than the gc.... they just dont have a spring rate on them. 1klb seems the way to go though... but i wouldnt run them on the street

In the early 70s BMW used suspension ties on thier test bed (skunkwork) cars. Of course thats a heavier rwd car. Has anyone tried limiting the suspension droop on an autocross car???
