Becuase there are no turbo manifolds for our engines available that I know of, and because the SI manifold would put the turbo way too low for oil return. You could use any manifold you wanted, though, if you mounted the turbo mugen style.

because it cost 10 dollars at the junk yard and it perfectly positioned my turbo. the si mani is alot longer than the dx.

if i place the turbo mugen style ( that is behind he motor right ) wouldnt that give it alot of turbo lag

depending on the size of the turbo but either way lag isnt necessarily a bad thing some ppl call some turbo lag "traction control" hahah....imo just ge dx mani cheap, plentiful at junkyard, and simple...i would sell you mines but mines is all the way in the bay while im in so cal
dont gotta look good just work good

It depends if you are running a front mount intercooler or not. At low PSI an intercooler is somewhat optional. So the added langth of exhaust pile is repayed with much shorter langth of charge pipe. Also, if you do deside to run an intercooler, you could go Subaru style and have the intercooler mounted above the turbo and fed by a scoop or some fins through the hood. Again, shorter charge piping than front mount intercooler with conventionaly mounted turbo.
The only thing you really miss out on mounting it mugen style is a bit of thermal efficiency in the exhaust.

Is that turbo a CT-26 from a Supra?
Yes it is, I think its from an 89' but not certain. All it took to mount it was to open the bolt holes in the manifold just a little and turn the intake to a different angle in relation to the exhaust on the turbo.

Thanks, I just wanted to know what one looked like mounted to a manifold, and it's perfect!
Looks like I'll be selling my other turbo in favor of the supra one.
