i have an 86 CRX HF (carb) and i've been searching online and i've found a turbo for the honda D-series engines.. i have the original d15a2 in my car and i really don't want to do an engine swap.. what problems could i run into? how hard would the install be? is it worth $600? should i do other engine work first?

I have been looking into this as well, and if you are speaking of a turbo kit I dont think there is one for this motor. You have to do it custom, I guess using your stock manifold, and making some sort of box or something for your carb.

For starters, you'll bend the shit out of these, the HF one is on the left:

Get a DX or Si bottom end first and I'd use an Si head too. (No CVCC chamber to worry about)

The only difference of any significance between the DX and the Si bottom ends is the pistons. The crank and rods are the same.

If you're serious about doing a turbo I'd suggest just finding an Si engine (and transmission if possible) and dumping the HF stuff. The Si comes with a 8.3:1 CR stock which actually lends itself quite well to a turbo application.

Just my opinion of course wink.gif

i found it pretty easy but i just found out yesterday from another post here that the turbo kit isn't actually for our car.. it says it fits all d-series but it doesn't fit right on the d15a2.. by the way what all have you done to your car.. i'm trying to get ideas for mine other than an engine swap.. just stuff i can do on a small budget

My car is stock now, lowered that is it. Something with the camshaft broke hoping to sort it out tommorow and either sell it or keep it and build it for turbo.
