I saw this video on YouTube, and in this video someone put a d16 head on a ew block. And it's something I'm interested in doing. Not only that I want to find a ew block rebuild it and slap the head on, mount it in a test engine station maybe brake it in and bolt it inside of my daily driver. Can I put Pistons from a d series block in to the ew block? What kind of efi will be good for this build and what ecu should I go with. I'm going to buy a rebuild head with stock parts from eBay.

Hey, I would definitely encourage you to do this and if your doing this please post the results! I love D series and I really like different builds! Here is the post on here I found on it

How To: Sohc 16 Valve Head On 12 Valve Block

If your going to redo the wiring I would use the 88-89 blacktop manual harness which is OBD0, grab a PS9 or the 90-93 teg equivalent, basically it's a MPFI OBD0 ECU that is for an automatic trans, and you can add 1 wire to the automatic trans pin on the ecu and reprogram the ecu for 1-wire vtec. The Integra wiring should be close to bolting right in, you may have to stretch some plugs to different locations, but you can either let the extra stuff hang like for the pop up headlights or pull it out. From what people tell me OBD0 is an easy DIY tune. You can jump that to OBD1 if you want and run an OBD1 computer. If you can not find the Vtec computer Xenocron makes a kit where you can use an ordinary DX/LX computer and add the circuitry for the Vtec. Might need to take it to someone to tune though. Best thing about using the EW block is it has really thick cylinder walls which means you don't have to sleeve it for boost like 88-up D series motors :) Heres a thread about rod/piston combo and hope that helps!

That's a lot to take on, hopefully I don't brake the engine when I get done building it.

If you need an ew short block I have 3 that I don't need. They are from 86-87 si's. I'll sell you one cheap.

How much do you want for one? And can I bolt my 85 to it?

Mr Fixit, hello there. Are any of these blocks still available? I have recently rebuilt 87 Sedan with a D15A2 block but my next project would be to do another engine for it with some modifications. Are these blocks still stock, not even resurfaced? Where are you located? My zip would be 33189. Thanks!!
