I am super stoked about this build. This might be a long process since finding the parts I want for my 87 crx is not easy to come by. Part of the reason I am posting a build thread is so hopefully some of u guys out there can help me source some of the parts that I need.

So I bought a 87 crx with a few of the mugen options. It came with the decal set, cf-48 and mugen duel tip exhaust. My plans are to go all out and try to find the complete mugen wide body. I would also like to do the flip up headlight conversion if I can find it.

so here it is this is what i am starting off with

Looks pretty clean, and seems to have the OEM aero kit.
Finding a complete original Mugen street kit is going to be just about impossible, and extremely expensive if you do find one.
The last set that popped up has been installed on a car owned by an RPR member, but in the 8 years ive been a member of this site it is the ONE time I have seen a full unmounted kit available.

You better be ready for a record long build time and have a pile of money ready, because most of the time the Mugen stuff that pops up here for sale is gone within minutes/hours.
Hopefully you dont take this the wrong way, im not trying to crap on your build, but be aware these cars are 25+ years old and the cool stuff is RARE.

Oh and another thing. The flip up lights are not only super rare, they are incompatible with the Mugen kit.
The Mugen kit uses a totally different header panel and different front fenders. The fenders are longer and dont work with the OEM header panel.
The Mugen header panel also looks completely different than the OEM unit, and the flip up lights closely resemble the OEM unit.
Again, not saying it couldnt be custom made to work, but the real Mugen cars never had flip up lights.

If you dont mind sacrificing originality and youre dead set on the Mugen street kit, might I recommend Houseman autosport.
Jamie at houseman has been building/racing Hondas since the CRX came out and knows them inside/out. He obtained a full unmounted Mugen kit (the same one later sold/mounted by an RPR member), and proceeded to use his awesome fiberglass skills to make a very very accurate reproduction of the kit, and in many aspects better (newer, thicker, better FG). It is not cheap to purchase, and not cheap to ship if you cannot pick it up in Canada where he lives/works.

I have the kit myself, and if youre interested ill post some pics.

ya it does have the oem aero kit

ya i know i have the option of going with the housemanouto kit but i have to give it a shot first at trying to compleet the full authentic kit.
i have been building mugen cars for years and am the leader of an all mugen show team. i have many sources for tracking down mugen parts
but this will be by far the hardest of them all to compleet.

i am always open to what others have to say. i dont take it as an insult or in a negative way. i know there is alot that i need to learn.

i am aware that the flip up head lights are not compatable with the rest of the kit but it is something id like to try and make work i have reserched it
and i beleive it can be moded to work

Are those F&R bumper covers the ones that were on ebay for like a year?
I would have bought those a long time ago as spares if they werent listed as pickup only on the other side of the country.

What kind of shape is your foam spoiler in?
That was a huge problem with those old faom units, they just started to crack and crumble over the years.
My car has a CF repro on it that wasnt made very well and had to be heavily modified to fit, but it should at least last.

What are those little cover things inthe first pic of your last post?
They almost look like rearview mirror covers?
