Hi guys, first thread here but multi-year reader and CRX lover.
After having my '87 Si on stands for a week installing a whole ton of new stuff (trans mount, brake booster, master cylinder, shift linkage bushings) I put my new wheels on an took Lil Red for a spin. On a downshift I noticed a knocking coming from the engine bay, and investigated later. I narrowed it down to a loose flywheel (clutch isntalled ~12,000 ago) or a bad input shaft bearing, and a local mechanic confirmed it as input shaft bearing failure.
After calling around to the local honda dealers it turned out they couldn't get it, and nobody online seems to have a bearing available. O'Reilly's does have a sketchy rebuild kit available, but I hesitate to special order that if there's something else available. Any advice on that front would be fantastic.
I suppose a new transmission would probably work too, though it seems like overkill consider the current tranny has 130,000 on it. Unfortunately there aren't a whole lot of Rexes here in the Northern Plains either, so finding one has been impossible so far. Thoughts?
