Hello again. I have noticed that my gas gauge goes down over night(about 1/16 of a tank) and I cannot achieve over 30 MPG. I think I saw some rust holes on the top of the tank when welding around it(I was scared silly, but covered the tank as best as possible.) and tried to patch with some putty. I still smell gas fumes and I know a replacement tank is needed.

WHERE CAN I GET ON FOR MY 98 CRX SI??? Nobody has any in stock, and I think the 86 honda civic hatchback fuel tank looks the same. Will it work?

I am a student on low income, so I need to fix asap. Please reply with anything that may help. Thanks!

p.s. are there any games with the crx in it? I cant find it if there is?

thanks again.

Civic and CRX tanks are not interchangeable, period. I should know, as I needed a replacement for my Civic and tried a CRX tank that I got locally for free. Not even close in shape, and the connections don't work either.

Ok. But I looked at the pictures of both, and the "hatchback" tank looks like the crx tank. Not the civic 4 door. i am probably wrong, but thanks anyway!

Did you try the local junkyards? That would be the most cost effective.

The Civic I was working with was a hatchback, so I can guarantee its tank won't fit in a CRX. The CRX tank is taller and narrower than the Civic tank. Maybe the picture for both was just a stock photo. I agree with Aren that a used tank could be your best option, as long as you can find a clean one. If not, you could always get a new one from the aftermarket.

As far as I know (as I have searched for one myself) there is no aftermarket for 86 CRX SI fuel tank,,,,, If someone should find an outlet please let me know as well.

I bought a junkyard one and started to clean it up and found it has pin holes as well.

Up until just recently, Rockauto.com had a listing for these and now I notice that the specific "CRX" category is gone from the catalog. I did find the listing below on the Advance Auto Parts website for a Dorman brand tank. I purchased a Dorman tank for my Civic Si this time last year and it was a good fit and has been working fine so...

maybe try calling Rockauto, give them the Dorman part number 576-601 and see if they can get this tank - it should be cheaper than Advance. Better than that...I just went to the Rockauto.com site and did a part number search for Dorman 576601 and it came up for about 1/3 of the Advance cost! Good luck with this.

Yep, and just to back up what Skip said, I also got a Dorman tank (on his recommendation), and it fits and works great.

Thanks Skip!

Thanks for the kind words squareback! Just on a whim I just checked ebay and the search "DORMAN 576-601" (the CRX Si tank) got 15 possibles, some with free shipping which might make them cheaper than Rockauto? A search for "DORMAN 576-602" (the Civic Si tank) got 7 possibles.

If you go with Rockauto's product use the discount code A4264E97BE89 at checkout for an additional 5% off

The picture of the tank shown on Rockauto is not the proper tank for the 84-87 CRX,,, (at least not the SI) that is a totally different one

WOW! Thanks sooo much to all of you! As you can see, I haven't been on for a month-ish, and I am glad I checked back in! I found the tank exactly as described and just love how people will help me out when I cant figure it out. Merry Christmas!

p.s. This probably sounds like blasphemy, but I might sell my crx si when I fix it up a bit. I live in wisconsin, near Appleton(if you know the name, you are "local"), and will be posting the craigslist ad in that section of craigslist. I will put in several hundred keywords, so finding the ad should be a piece of cake.
If anyone wants to know anything, message me!

Did that tank part number "576601" fit a crx SI?

For that price I would replace what I have as its condition is pretty unknown...

Like Quinn, I'm wondering what the right Dorman part number is for a first gen CRX Si. The referenced 577601 number is only listed as applying to normally aspirated cars which is concerning to me since it would need to work with fuel injection for this application.

If anyone can confirm the fit/use it would be great. This seems like a great replacement if it works!
