I have an 85 HF. Im mulling over the possibility of a motor swap. No particular goals other than ~100hp or more, and more torque.

The catch is i want to keep my HF gearing. Unfortunately i am new to hondas (although i am a prolific car enthusiast.. currently own 13 and work as an ASE master tech), and im not seeing any super obvious breakdown of what will bolt to what.

So, will ANYTHING bolt to the HF trans? And if so, what?

Any of the EW engines from 84-86 and any of the D15a2 and D15a3 from 86-87.
Basically any 1.3 or 1.5 liter from 84-87

Well, that's discouraging. So i cant even bolt a newer d-series to it? Like a d15z1 or a d17?

Oh well. It's probably for the best since the main attraction of this car was to still get decent MPG (but not as good) while i turbo my 1g Insight. It's serving it's intended purpose and its probably better if i dont get attached to it since i have at least 7 car projects i prioritize higher... yikes.

Thanks for the info.
