So on the off session we ripped all the wiring out of our 84 HF. Since then I built a carbon fiber dash with a bunch of gauges. Well we figured everything out besides the voltage regulator. Do we need one? How in the hell should a guy wiring either the stock one up or a aftermarket one. Is there a aftermarket one that I can use? 10 days to the green flag and I need to get this done.

Thanks guys
Randy

If you’re using the OEM alternator- I think it’s built in to the alternator. ’83 was the last year Honda used an external Voltage Regulator

Then what are all the wires for? Do I need a inducer wire? Or just the one main wire. I didnt think it was a one wire hook up.

The one big wire is 12 volts from the battery -well it has 12 volts on it all time and the others I think are field coil 12volts pos /12 volt neg and the third is the charge light.
Remember Honda’s old slogan “ We make it simple!” Damn I think I just dated myself! laugh.gif

They put 12 volts to the field coil only when the ignition is on; it removes all the complexity from the alternator. It just dawned on me- We are talking about the 3 wire plug right... so a total of 4 wires connected to the alternator? I can’t remember if there is any more than that.
