Excellent CSP. JMHO, but as more things like this become readily available, FA K swaps will quickly overtake B swaps in making them the sports car they deserved to be from the start.

It certainly is going to take things to an entirely new level.  With the power and torque the K series brings these cars are going to be beasts!

I can’t wait for the first track day with 215hp and 180+ ftlbs at the tires!  Going to pull out of the turns like a monster!

Some progress today.  Powder coated the final version of the throttle cable bracket.  Still touches the hood at rest but not as badly as it did previously.

Finalized the coolant hoses as well today.  Bottom hose is a Gates that we had to chop off an end and it fit very well.  Upper is another Gates that we trimmed the ends off of.  Also cut the center and clocked it to work very well.

Plan on working on this more Wednesday night.  Cut some small tabs to weld on the bottom of the radiator to locate in the factory support spots.  We will weld those on and do some final touches on the radiator brackets.  After this we need to wrap up wiring and the clutch hydro conversion.

I love how it’s taking shape, CSP!

If you know the Gates part numbers (or the engine / vehicle application) for the radiator hoses, would you please post them? Thanks.

We tried a few different ones and I didn’t write them down.  Brian took pictures of the part numbers for the video series he is building.  If you need it soon let me know I can ask him.

Thanks CSP, but no urgent need. Just thought it’d be good to document

Brian is adding it to the video documentation of the video he will be posting on VTEC Academy.

The second video in the series is supposed to be uploaded any day.

Radiator was finalized today as far as mounting goes.  Welded tabs underneath to align with the stock locations.  Left and right brackets lock it in place and help keep the air from going around the radiator.  Will be placing thick foam under radiator to keep air from going under as well.  Fan brackets are being finalized to clamp on the top and bottom of the radiator to hold it in place.

Worked on the swap tonight.  Made some good progress on the hydro conversion and finished the intake.  45 degree coupler, with some trimming to length, combined with a vibrant 30 degree 3” tube with 1.5 inches cut off the end by the filter. Fits perfectly!

if any of you missed it we actually did a live show tonight.  You can get a sneak peak at the almost finished swap. Jump to 1:12 for video of the bay.

Little more progress last night.

Finalized fan mounting brackets, test fitted and worked so we can powder coat and install permanently.

Test fitted revised version of hydro conversion bracket.  Slimmed down and simplified the design greatly from what we started with, which was a Hush kit for the 2nd Gen CRX.  Need to finish weld, powder coat, and do some welding on the pedal assembly.  The spot welds are known to break over time so it’s a good time to add some extra welds for strength while it’s out of the car.  This bracket will require only one hole to be drilled into the pedal assembly for a bolt.  Other connection point is the bolt that all the pedals hinge on.  I am using a Toyota master, Beck Arnley 072-9713, it’s compact and lightweight.

Also wrapped up the oil catch can.  Made a bracket for it to mount to, then mounted the bracket in the area where the stock air box sat behind the battery.  Fits very well, easy to service and lines were very easy to run.

plan on working on the swap more Saturday.  Install the fan, pedal assembly and start measuring up for clutch line. Started ordering exhaust parts as we are getting down to a short list of items.  Wiring harness is the last big item on the list now.

More progress today.

radiator fan permanently installed, catch can hoses clamped and finally air temp sensor mounted to intake tube.  I used a KTuned AIT mount that welds to the intake tube, very clean and doesn’t disrupt airflow.

made some big progress on the Hydro conversion.  First test install was a success.  Fits very well and lots of clearance in the dash area for the lines.  pics of the bracket and installed views.  Such a simple system!

working on the wiring harness now.  Donor harness is from a manual trans Honda Accord.  Nice part about this harness is it has a connector in the engine compartment after the firewall.  This means you can unplug it and drop the motor.

getting very close to firing it up!

Looks  oem factory!

you probably have this covered…. You can put grab a protective hose sleeve off another honda to cover the joint on the upper hose if you want.  It’s very discrete as it is

Keepin' it OEM

Good idea!

made some more progress today.  Engine harness was cleaned up and test fitted to ensure wires are long enough to reach the sensors.  We are using an Accord harness from a MT car which has two connectors allowing the engine to be dropped without removing it.  Next we will be taping and looming the harness then putting it in for good.

made some more progress on the hydro clutch conversion as well.  Went to the junk yard and scored a clutch reservoir and bracket.  Modified the bracket and powder coated it so it sits right where I want it to.

I also had a custom line made to run from the master to the slave.  Local Parker Store was able to make a line with the fittings to work on both ends.

will be working on it again next week after Christmas.  Getting so close to firing this thing up!
