More stuff developing. So from here, a second set of mounts was sent to Shamgar. He is going to be doing the full swap on his Convertible Straman CRX. Here are some photos. Brilliantly they are going to be able to keep the AC!.

We made some weld on fender braces specifically for this Straman which is lacking allot of structural integrity. More to come.

There has been actually quite a few. You just need to dig and search for their builds, although not much writeup information on how they did it. I know of a 3G Civic in Australia and a 1G White Crx Si in Europe with one that is currently being sold. So far the results seem good, K-series are definitely better than B-series motors. It just comes down to the amount of money you are willing to justify for the small differences and gains you'll receive from a K-series swap.

There are plenty of benefits to having the k series.

More work being done on the straman.

WOW I need to check in more often. I have been kicking around the K series idea for a while. The biggest one is stripped down with the right combination of parts it is almost the same weight as my B16 which is nice. The big advantage is the torque. I run a B16A2 rated at 170 crank hp but no where near that in torque. Which means on the track to come out of turns you need RPMs all the time to make up for the lack of torque. You can get a several K24s that make about 170 hp and ftlbs. Now we are talking about something that will pull you out of the turns!!!!!

For me, running time attack, you are classed HP to Weight to keep things fair. That being said during open track session when I am chasing my competitors that have more torque I see the advantage they get pulling out of the turns.

Nice work hope you get it all together and driving soon.

Side note ditching the under hood bracing is not a big deal. I removed all of mine years ago in an effort to shave a few lbs off the front of the car.

Someone's got a k20 Straman? Very interesting.

I have a friend who recently put a K24 in his EG race car with some interesting results.

He previously had a B18C and after swapping to the K24 his lap times slowed by about 1 sec. After much head scratching and trial and error he finally figured out why.

He was originally using 15" wheels and tyres and noticed that the Honda Accord Euro (Australian spec car) that he took the engine from came from the factory with 17" wheels.

After swapping the wheels on his EG to 17" his lap times are now faster than he was doing with the B18C. So I guess it came down to the gearing just not working well with the final drive of the 15" vs the 17" wheels.

Just thought I'd mention this for anyone who was looking to put one of these into a race application.

Cheers

Looking at the engine bay, with the motor now on the other side, the use of the later integra and prelude brake boosters is now possible as there is space over the gearbox. Good upgrade in my view when paired with the calipers, as the brake pad area is significantly larger. Just have to redo a brake line end to go into the larger size.

Yes, I believe he is using the s2k master and the larger prelude brake booster now.

I use the vtir prelude and integra booster.  May not fit anymore, looking at the RHD shells and the space available to the K20 head. Ah well, swings and roundabouts.
