Ok, I am a noobie member, but I've been visiting for some time and now I need a little help please.
I can't get my hood open!!
The lever on the dash still works and I can hear the cable trying to open the latch but the latch wont release.
I had it open just 3 days prior and as far as I know the latch is not damaged.
I tried pushing down on the hood while someone else pulled the lever, that didn't work.
Any Ideas? I appreciate any and all input.

Sounds like the cable fell out. Go under the car and reach up to the hood latch, its kind of tricky but if you mess with it for a bit you can un do the latch by hand.

take a plasma cutter and cut a cresent around the latch, then get some Type-R hood pins!!

get a friend to pull the lever while you pull up on the hood by jamming you fingertips into the crack.....errr...space infront of the hood.

+1, as I've seen this a couple times also. Don't pull a blacksheep and cut the hood up over a simple problem.

Yep, a moderately common problem. The cable sheath either falls out of the latch mechanism or the plastic clip that holds the cable sheath on the latch breaks at the same location. The metal cable itself is usually still connected, so you can get under the car and work some needle nose pliers up there to pull on the cable and pop the hood. Just don't close the hood again before you've fixed it like I did!

Thanks computer, screech & darkhand. I figured I would have to resort to getting my hands dirty. Dang!! I'll have to tell my wife I'll be spending a little time with the other woman.
Cutting the hood was never an option; can you say unnecessary?
Just gotta remember not to leave my lights on while I'm at work.
Thanks guys!!

When this happened to my old CRX years ago, I found that the cable had slipped out of the small plastic clip that holds the end of the cable in place right at the latch. Once you get the hood open, add a couple of small ty-wraps to keep the cable locked in place.
Yes, hood pins are nice....but it really, really, really sucks when you forget to put them in (don't ask me how I know )

Exactly where mine broke and exactly how I fixed it until I bought a new cable. Perfect!

Dont get your fingertips into the crack... thats how people get shot in DC. LOL.
YOu could have used a sledgehammer... it would have been fun... however it is easier and cleaner just to get underneath the car and get your hand between the radiator and bumper and with a locking plier pull the cable... it works everytime... thats also how you can still shit from someone else's car without never messing with their locks or windows.... not that I have ever said that and you didnt hear it from me.
