Being faced with the dilemma of having a large set of motorcycle carbs and not being able to modify the stock intake manifold without restricting flow, I have finally decided to get one made. So I found a shop that can cut the intake manifold flange out of 1/4 mild steel on their profile burner. I chose mild steel for easier welding, but it can be made of aluminum too. They're a large company that has handled a lot of these projects before, especially when summer comes around. And because it is cut on the profile burner there is no warpage like if you used a torch or plasma cutter.

It is made for the D16A1 but can be made for any engine model. The design includes all bolt holes, the coolant hole, the ports (with the top flat instead of with that bump), and is the shape of the stock flange.

I will have the first completed flange on July 18. (updated July 18) Final pricing for labour and material was $125 CDN for the first and $80 for each additional unit.

I'm having two cut for myself, so if anyone is interested in having a flange for your motorcycle carbs or ITB's or whatever project then I can look into the shipping costs and everything else.

How much will it be for an aluminum flange in 3/8 vs 1/4?? Or is this even an option?

I called and he says the 3/8 aluminum won't change the cost.

I got them back Monday morning at 7:30, but I've been working so didn't post it 'til now.

They look great! Smooth with no warping, and all the holes line up perfect. Final cost ended up being $80 for each after the first, but with enough interest I can get them for just $60.

Can you get them so they will fit my 1.3 and 1.5 carbed.. I think their both EW1's. Just mild steel.

Yeah, just let me know when and I'll get them cut. I can have it made for the EW1, it's gonna cost $125 for the first piece (they have to put the new design in the comp) but just $60 for the second, plus GST is about $196. Then add $50 if you want runners welded on.
