Help me, lol i have a bad knock in the right side of my engine, i have an 85 crx 12 valve, it souonds like a thin peice of metal slapping, not a rod mabye a piston or something, i took off the alternator belt and it changed nothing, the ac belt is unhooked so it isnt that either, the cover for the timing belt isnt touching, its inside the block im sure, is there any way to check it without pulling the head? or any ideas...also if u have a DOHC ill be interested;)

Also i pulled the valve cover, nothing there either...its deeper in the engine

You can try to adjust your valve lash that might be what is causing it. if I rember right I think it is... .07 for in and .05 for EX I think you really should look in the manual for this. hope it helps. wink.gif

Off by a decimal point cool.gif

It's .007" to .009" for the intake valves and .009" to .011" for the exhaust valves..

get the car on jack stands, start it and get inder there and feel the oil pan, see if there is anything hitting it. if not take it to a mechanic and have them diagnose it. worst case you will need a rebuild or go with a D16!!!

If you want the d16a1 head i've got a complete one with about 128k on it complete with intake mani, tb, all sensors and electronic disty, all you'd need to do is rewire it for the... p28 i believe? ecu. which I don't have but could most likely find if you were interested

it's the dohc head off the integra, the hydra swap.

and if it were a valve it would sound more like a ticking unless something is broken in which case the engine would run like complete ass... sounds like you may need a rod or something, I'd take the oil pan off if i were you and get under there with a flashlight and see what you can see... may be obvious what the problem is.

once I was driving a car with a ticking, then the engine ground to a halt. turned out it was the wrist pin.
