Some Weekend Front End Work

17 January 2016 - 12:39 PM

I finally got some time to take the front end apart and clean it up. Pics are kinda big.

first step was to get the front off. Then any light rust was taken out and primer was applied. at that point painting began. I decided to go with matte black.

The hardware got painted

Nasty fan. I found some hack and slash wiring for the fan and thermo sensor, so I re did all of that. The damn fan isn't even for this car. One of the bolt arms is 2 inches off.

After cleaning and paint. I went with high heat on these to be safe.

The top support was damaged while under previous ownership. A lifted truck trailer ball kissed the passenger side headlight and crushed it into the body of the car. After fixing all of that prep began. The support will eventually have an aluminum trim piece to hide some of my not so great body repair.

It was sealed black for 12 years. Its time to bring it back to life.

After full restore I think it looks good.

Here is a shot of the engine side. Much cleaner look. Not a spec of rust in this car except for one tiny spot on the rear quarter panel. That will be addressed next summer.

Next step is to clean the rest of the bottom engine area. Its grimed up pretty good down there ;)

More to come, Thanks for reading.

Another O2 Ecm Code Issue, Need Help :)

02 January 2016 - 09:21 PM

So here it is. 87 crx si. New plugs. Distributor and rotor are good. Good wires. Good grounds. No vacuum leaks. Injectors as well as the timing are good. We drive the car and at the same exact location every day the PGMFI light comes on. Acceleration is still good and the car runs great though. This code is the code slot 1, for oxygen sensor issues. I replaced the o2 sensor 7 years ago for this same issue and it went away for about a year then came back. I fear that I could be burning some oil or the cat is bad. Any ideas on this one guys? I hear a lot about it but with a search found no remedy so far :( . I have also checked the O2 connections and found no loose points or cuts in the wire anywhere. Is it possible I need to replace the catalytic converter? This issue has haunted me prior to the original rebuild as well. Thanks for any help. I know this has been discussed before but I cant find a good solution to this anywhere.

Need Advise On Further Engine Clean Up. Pics Inside

26 December 2015 - 07:27 PM

So here is the engine bay so far after all the work I have done. I am concerned with the nasty surfaces below the intake and am still not happy with some of the clutter. I know there is something I can do to further hide things but the hoses are whats killing me. The fuel system is getting upgraded to all AN Fittings and steel braid soon so that should help. Any ideas guys? I was also thinking of coating the exhaust Mani with high temp BBQ paint. Black would be the color. Are there any hoses in here that could be further deleted that I am just not aware of? Thanks for any input! :)

Here are the pics.
