Once the new ignition switch is in place and it's running again, I just hit $6000.00. It was about a 90/10 split in favor of cosmetic changes over mechanical repairs. Everything just keeps running really well...did I just curse myself by saying that...

I'm not as mechanically inclined as some of the guys here, so I tend to spend a little more on stuff...but that's how it goes...I want my car to run for a long time!

So far:

87 HF - $575
Front Brakes (new pads & rotors) - $185
New lower control arms on both driver & passenger side - $450
Sony tape deck - $5 (40w per channel!)
Rear speakers - free!

To come:

New clutch (incl resurface flywheel)- $300
Exhaust - $300 (roughly...this will include new cat)
Tune Up - cheep (since this is where my mechanical skills excel!)
Compression check, vacuum leak check, $60

I'm sure there is more I want to do, but that's my budget for the fall! biggrin.gif

There is no replacement for displacement... but dicking with the bottom end of a Honda is not very productive. Put your energy into the head, that is where power is made.

...Dicking with the vacuum lines is not how you adjust ignition timing. That requires loosening the three bolts that hold the distributor and twisting on it.

Okay, I just counted the $ in my rex and it came to $2.31. Enough for some emergency gas or food.

ok, i'll bite:

$650: CRX
$2000: donor integra (i also daily drove the car for four years before using its parts for the CRX--putting 60k miles on it)
$150: D16A1 (didn't use the one from the integra--that engine is now a spare).
$200 + shipping: Mugen torsion bars (thanx tom!)
$270 + shipping: Koni Yellows (thanx scott, aka integen1 over at g1teg.org)
$100 + shipping: GCs + Eibach springs, 325lbs/in (thanx again to scott)
$115 + shipping: RPR panhard bar.
$70 + shipping: ES bushings (c/o summit racing)
$320 + shipping: wheels (originally bought them for the teg back in 2000)
$225 + installation: CD player (originally for teg)
$260 + shipping & installation: rockford amp (originally for teg--not in CRX yet, need to get new speakers, first, need to get the amp back from my asshole roommates, too).

i can't even count the misc odds & ends of parts & tools & stuff i had to get to complete the project, ie head gasket, water pump, timing belt, head bolts, alt belt, etc, etc.

coming up: $140 shipped for the JR rear sway bar coming my way (same crappy design as ST, but hey, it's an old school part!)

I have at least $7,000 to $10,000 into it including the original price i bought it for and when the police repoed it and i had to buy it back from them. they were going to auction it if i didn't. I try not to think about how much I have put into it. dry.gif But I think it's more of an investment than anything. Pretty soon I'm going to drop another couple g's into it too. it never stops
