The picture is the schematic cross-section of a trans oil seal. The cross-hatched section is the metal backing; the dark grey is the rubber and the small cross/circle is the seal spring. Note sure what '400' refers to, not a dimension anyway.

Ok make sense now.This is a cross section of a seal for an automatic transmission, not the engine like in the description. 400 is the style
