so far i have:
Si harness (interior and engine)
complete Intake mani with vacum box
Si gas tank,fuel lines and pump
parts i still need:
Si distributor
Si ecu
couple things i'm not sure of. can i retain the carbed head?i really don't want to swap the head because this engine runs so good and has only 96k miles on it.

You should swap the head if you're going to all this trouble. Plus the carbed head has the cvcc ports on the intake side that the FI intake manifold doesn't cover.

Is this on the automatic or a different chasis?
Honda, because it's hard to look baller in your mom's Volvo.
The entire tool selection at Sears or the contents of a Snap-On truck will do you no good if you do not know how to use them.

if you are going to shop for a head go and bug some of the canadian members for a ew2 head for your car. The si head on the carby block lowers compression. The ew2 head will maintain the orig. comperssion ratio of the carby motor.
Carby= 9.2:1
si= 8.7:1
Although I have put a si head on a carby block and it ran fine.. Its wasnt this end of the world craziness that some people think may happen.
Ps I have 2 86 si ecus if you want one.

i have all the exhaust components,i forgot to mention that. its staying auto,i cant stand shifting on my comute.
Si pan and pick up?whats the reason?exhaust wont clear?

Exactly.
Let me know how it all works out, This was my original plan for the sedan I had. I might have to re-commit to doing this swap again for an rpr members wife soon.

In my small experience the Si pick up is exactly the same as the DX one that was already on the car. In fact, since the DX one was cleaner I'm using it with the Si oil pan.

hehe you can always go the ghetto fabulous way and hammer the hell out of the dx oil pan to convert it to Si.... I was known to have done that several years ago lol.... surprisingly no leaks!!!! but I wouldnt recommend it.

So... go to the parts store, or Majestic, and look up the part numbers... if they're the same, they have the same part number.
But, if they have different part numbers, that doesn't mean one won't work for the other...

alright, im a non believer. i ran a d16a1 in a carb'd car with only these parts.
stripped down wiring harness. very very easy to do. only takes constant and switched power and also ran the cel power to the choke warning light on the dash. didnt change the dx harness at all. the a1 harness plugged into the accesory ports in the fuse panel.
NO FUEL LINES OR TANK! i made over 200 wheel with a boosted ls with stock carb'd lines. i slipped a walbro 255 lph pump in after the fuel filter. no major changes at all! use a t bolt styleish kinda hose clamp on the part that comes out of the firewall and cut the banjo fitting so the hose can go on.
really easy to do! infact i think a friend has my old plug in harness kicking around. forget the whole black box as well. steel a map sensor off of an ef and change the motor harness. even easier. buy a 1g teg and just plop the motor in. in my opinion its easier than converting the carb'd motor.
i have an ew2 head here if your dead set on it. ill send it to you postage due.
