85 Si Fuel Pump

14 May 2017 - 10:17 PM

Ok everyone, I'm looking into an 85 SI hatch on Craigslist for $600 and the guy said the fuel pump is bad. I've found new ones on line for less than $60 just to get it going. I tried looking at the service manual here, but it's a dead link for me. Before I get serious about getting the car, I just wanted to know where the pump was located. I figure, if I don't have to drop the tank, that'd make things easier. Though I've seen on older forums that the sock can get clogged and keep it from working too, so I'd have to drop the tank for that anyways.

S2000 Front Brakes?

25 October 2016 - 10:30 AM

I found this interesting, someone mentioned to me that the S2000 brakes will fit our cars as a bolt on. Does anyone know it it's true? The S2k has 4 piston fixed calipers up front, but I'm not familiar with the size and bolt pattern of them. I know there's a few 3Gs in the pick a parts close to me, but I don't think they have any S2ks. Would be a pretty cool swap.

Spark Plug Gap Bridging

25 September 2016 - 01:18 AM

This is an odd one, at least for me, but I just did a tune up(cap, rotor, plugs, wires) the other day and noticed a little bit of bridging on cylinder 1, but no other cylinder. Afterwards, Cyl 1 bridged completely, giving me a dead cylinder within 60 miles. I used a coworkes file and some sand paper to clean it up and drive it home. About maybe 40-50 miles after that it bridged again, but not as thick. I used NGK plugs, stock heat range, last set I used 1 heat range colder, 5. Anyone else have any bridging issues? If so, what was your remedy? I'm using one of the old heat range 5 plugs so I can drive it until the new ones arrive at O'Reilly's in the morning. Only cylinder 1 has been acting up, none of the others. If it makes a difference, the motor is .020 overbore and I have a Weber 32/36

A20 In A 3G?

09 September 2016 - 11:48 AM

I was looking on eBay at the Weber DGAS 38/38 and a couple listings mentioned the A20A1 and it had me thinking, would an A20 swap be possible? It's something different than the D and B series swaps, so it adds to the Dare to be Different factor. Granted, the aftermarket support wouldnt be as good as the other engines. Anyone ever try or consider the A20?

Another Ac Question

29 July 2016 - 01:47 PM

I recently got a 2nd 3G sedan as a parts car. My main 3g has a Weber 32/36 and devac. It's also my daily driver, even with over 508,000 miles on the chassis. I was wondering if anyone has used the AC set up with a Weber? I will be pulling the AC parts from the parts car. Mainly got that one because I needed some body parts from it(hood, fenders, header panel, headlight). I appreciate any and all info! Also, I will probably offer the car on here when I get all my parts. The engine m it has 107K, and same on the chassis. Runs very smooth. I wanna keep the other one so I can have the bragging rights for owning a car with over half a million miles.
