Ok im a returning member. I have a first gen...sold it then got a ef and did a b18a swap. now im sellin it and buyin another 1st gen when i find one. I have this motor ive built lyin around and now i got a crazy idea. I want to do a lsvtec swap into a dx/hf....but i want to make a custom intake and keep it carbed. run an inline fuel pump. and use a 4 barrel carb. What ill do with vtec is run it off a switch that is activated off the 4 barrel. What do you guys think? Matt

The only thing that sounds mildly crazy is using the 4 barrel carb on a custom manifold. Why not use a Pierce Manifold and twin side drafts?

I'm actually looking at stuffing a b18b1 or b16a with twin Webers into a Honda N360... Now that would be the poop!

The carb idea sounds fine but vtec really does need to be rpm activated and not throttle position activated, because you definitely do NOT want to be on the high rpm lobes if you floor it at 2000 rpm. I believe I read somewhere that there is a simple timer circuit that can do this, and adding a rheostat to it gives it an adjustment range. Alternately you could use an off the shelf switch like this .

me and a buddy had been talking about this and what you could do, crazy as it sounds is have two different racks of carbs, with a throttle body or something so when the vtec solenoid trips it switches to the other set of carbs, tuned for the second cam profile

i think that this would be the best way to do this. and the most effective.

and maybe the only way if you want drivability and performance.
The replacement for displacement is technology.
