ECU is a PND but it has Hondata Kpro V4 inside.  We loaded the base K24a2 in it.  Had to tweak a few settings for it to stop throwing codes.  Secondary O2, Vtec oil pressure switch and deactivated IACV.  Adjusted throttle cable and it sits at 900 rpm idle.

Saturday loading it up and taking it over to have the exhaust made.  I got a 3 in stainless steal kit from trubendz for a second Gen CRX.  We are using this as the base.  Owner of Trubendz is interested in hearing what is different or needed to make it work on the 1st gens and said he might offer up something.  Have a high flow Flowmaster 200 cell cat, Flowmaster 4 in diameter mid muffler/resonator and a Magnaflow rear muffler.  All will be tig welded with V-band connectors.

once that’s done we take it to the dyno for some tuning!  Goal is 215 tire, which should not be a problem since I see many make 220 or more.  So May have two tunes, track 215 and street as much as it can .

Bob, you’re right one.  Impressive math calcs.   Appears our unibodies can withstand the torque.

CSP, The post above doesn’t allow me to view as a video.  Can others see it?  Or just my browser app not allowing it?  Curious if you can post videos on Flickr.

Can wait to see ur post after todays exhaust installation!

congrats on the engine performance!

Maybe someone else can share if they can’t see it.  Not sure why.

I dropped off the car and parts at the shop that’s doing the exhaust.

video fixed.

Exhaust is done, he jumped on it a knocked it out!  TruBendz kit worked very well and made it much easier to custom make the system to fit my needs.  He said all the bends were in the right spots and allowed for customization.  We did make this so we have a cat and test pipe.  VBands were used so they could be changed easily and also so the system could be dropped totally if needed.

next we are going to get a bit more run time on the motor, clean up some wiring, and make some adjustments to the clutch activation.  The off to the dyno for tuning.  We have not even driven the car around the block!  Need to let it run for a while and make sure we are not throwing any codes, the fan works when it should, and the fluids are at good levels.  Also make some rips, sorry trips, around the block!

Picked the car up last night and could not resist taking it for a short rip down the street.  First, the video makes the exhaust sound much louder than it is.  Think this was because it was recorded inside a shop.  Second, holly TORQUE!  Man this car drives so differently now with all the torque of the 2.4L.  Even with the B16 and its low torque it felt quick down low in the RPMs.  Such a different animal now!

working on the car again tonight.  Putting in longer rod for clutch, need a bit more adjustment on actuation point, putting IACV back in and cleaning up some wiring.  We also need to hook up the data link connector and Speedhut SpeedGuage.

the other thing we need to do is let it idle for a while and warm up to ensure fan cycles, thermostat opens and coolant is good.

down to small things now really.

Made some progress tonight.  IACV in and idles like a normal car!  Adjusted the clutch rod and have it in a good place.  Didn’t have to change it out just adjusted it. See how this works over time.  Brian did some work on cleaning up the wiring at the ECU and behind the dash.  Ran the car and found the fan wasn’t turning on, turned out the fuse was blown.  Replaced and working fine now, not sure if it has always been blown as I didn’t use it on the B16 setup as the fan had direct power from the battery.

We have a dyno appointment for the 18th of this month, soonest we could get.  Plan is to work on the car more Saturday.  There is air in the cooling system, so we need to burp that out.  Also need to do a little more finishing work on wire tucking.  Put the glove box and kick panel back in.

it’s almost done!

Great progress, CSP! Thanks for sharing info as you proceed.

Curious if you got a feel for how the 205 section tires handle the torque under sudden throttle applications. Any news to report yet? Also curious about how corner weights compare vs before with the B16. Had a chance to put it on the scales yet?

Written words posted on the internet can’t properly express how envious I am … SUPER cool !

Have not really put the power to it yet but I don’t think the 205s are going to hold!  my plan is to run 225s on the street which I think do a better job, especially a 200 tread wear rated tire.  My track tires are 100s.

we are putting the car on the scales Saturday.

I’m itching to put the peddle down, just trying to make sure things are sorted so I don’t damage the motor.

appreciate the kind words.  Hopefully the information here and that HASport puts out will allow others to do the same swap!

Love the vid.  Car looks and sounds great!

I like the modularity.  Recent years when I find a 1g/3g at a junkie, it’s all welded.  No flex joints

This is an extremely respectable job

Car is home now, no longer living at the shop.  I organized the wires behind the glove box so everything is tucked out of the way.  Coolant system is burped and we are ready for the dyno in two weeks.

took it for some rips around the block, what a monster!  The tires would break traction at 5k rpm in second gear with ease.  The car just pulls so hard!  Brian drove it and jumped out with a huge smile on his face.  He said “that’s a fast car, very fast!”

Need to put the glove box back and a few panels, then the interior will be all back together.  Also need to change the valve cover, got a red  one, and clean up the bay.  Shop dust, coolant, and other grime that’s accumulated.  We were not able to scale the car today so we are going to do it when we dyno the car.

Great vid.   Love how you guys don’t leak on the car, but do on the valve cover.   Body is in great shape.  Did you get the car in the south west?

I purchased the car in 1992 here in Phoenix.  Car was originally from Florida.  Husband and wife purchased it there the moved out here.

Panels are cracked. Both doors, both skirts and the header panel.  Getting replacements from HeelToe.  Plan is to get the car painted this summer, been needing it for a long time.  Stashed the money from selling the B series parts to put into replacement panels and paint.
