There is no replacement for displacement... but dicking with the bottom end of a Honda is not very productive. Put your energy into the head, that is where power is made.

...Dicking with the vacuum lines is not how you adjust ignition timing. That requires loosening the three bolts that hold the distributor and twisting on it.

Dry Ice and a rubber hammer and it comes out in about 20mins. Not bad for about 12lbs.

I'd rather keep the insulation. This will be my daily driver and I'm a courier and process server, so I drive a lot.

I turned my attention to the stock 1300 motor yesterday.

I had some help

With that done I painted up the rear and pulled the spare tire brackets and cleaned it up. Rust free is the way to be:

Today I pulled the wiring harness and started to install the Si harness.

I hate wires

I whacked myself a good one with the pry-bar

Lots more done, it's a cunthair from being completed and I'm amped.

The CRX Si wiring harness is in. It has half the plugs unplugged because this hatch has even less options than the CRX! No hatch release, gas release, or even a cigarette lighter!

Hopefully the needle will be reaching 110 again like it has before, and the miles go over 600k.

The pistons, crank, flywheel, rods, and clutch plate were still at the machinist, who said they'd be done friday, so I went back and finished up my intake manifold:

before:

after:

Parts came back so I started assembling the motor.

Just a cone filter on the end of the intake tubing. When I bought my CRX it didn't have an airbox, and that's probably the best intake I can use anyway, I'll try to get some fresh air to it.

Worked all night plugging in the engine to its various clips and sockets and hoses.

Havin trouble where these go if anyone has any ideas:

This is where the battery is going, still gotta fab a bracket.

Check out dose brakes

I've got a hidden gear

This was the first 1g/3g I looked at when I wanted to start my project. It was so clean I didn't even look at the others and bought it right away.

I got the mounts on ebay. Thanks.

It hasn't been started yet. The yesterday I wasted making no progress. I somehow misplaced the throttle cable from my CRX and completely spaced the fuel pump. Also, I had to pull out the tranny yesterday, for some reason I couldn't get the shifter to go to 5th or reverse. It ended up being the stupid bolts for the detent balls had the wrong sized washer on them.

Today I made some progress. I finished the battery mount and mounted the ECU under the passenger seat.

I also finished up the engine. All it needs now is oil and water. Thanks to the many stock Si owners in the "Post your engine bay" thread biggrin.gif

I bought a fuel pump and ordered a throttle cable, though hopefully I can hit up all the auto parts stores in town and find one who has it in stock.

I also did a mod which will probably add the most performance to my car:

and painted my shitty Pep-boys 19.99 steering wheel that was rusted (The reason why all my parts are rusted in New Mexico is because I left them outside for half a year. It's just surface rust...I love this place)

Also, a customer came by with a sweet Porsche 914:

With a Miata motor....that's carburated

I've pretty much buttoned everything up. I modified a throttle cable from a '91 Prelude at the Pull-A-Part to work so now I just have to wait until Monday to buy the right fittings for the fuel pump.

I got the battery cables finished. How bad-ass is that ground cable?

I had to re-wire the plug for the rear wiring harness for the hatch lights to work with the CRX front harness (pain in the ass). But now I have lights!
